Norah Jones Life

Norah Jones (born Geethali Norah Jones Shankar) is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist.

She has won multiple awards and has sold more than 50 million copies around the world.

Billboard named her as the best jazz artist of the 2000s.

Jones has received nine Grammy Awards and was ranked 60th on Billboard's artists of the 2000s decade chart, a fusion of jazz, blues, folk, and pop.

It was certified Diamond and had sold more than 27 million copies.

Jones received five Grammy Awards, including the Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist.

Feels Like Home, her follow-up to home, was released in 2004, but Not Too Late, 2009, and The Fall all became Platinum, with more than a million copies sold each.

Critics were also highly appreciated.

Little Broken Hearts, Jones' fifth studio album, was released on April 27, 2012; her sixth, Day Breaks, was released on October 7, 2016.

Jones made her film debut in My Blueberry Nights, a 2007 film that was first released in 2007. Jones is the half-sister of fellow musician Anoushka Shankar's daughter.

Early life

Geethali Norah Jones Shankar was born in Manhattan, New York City, on March 30, 1979, to American concert promoter Sue Jones and Indian Bengali musician Ravi Shankar.

Jones and her mother grew up in Grapevine, Texas, after her parents separated in 1986. Jones began performing in church and later took piano and voice lessons as a child. She attended Colleyville Middle School and Grapevine High School before moving to Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas. Her music took its first appearance in the local Methodist Church, where she often sang solos. She sang in the school choir, performed in band, and appeared on alto saxophone while in high school. She officially changed her name to Norah Jones at the age of 16, with both parents' permission.

Bill Evans and Billie Holiday, among other "oldies," had an affinity for the music of the "oldies." "My mom had this eight-album Billie Holiday set; I picked out one disc that I loved and played it over and over again," she said.

During the summers, she attended the Interlochen Center for the Performing Arts. She received the Down Beat Student Music Awards for Best Jazz Vocalist (twice, 1996 and 1997), as well as Best Original Composition (1996), while attending high school.

Jones played jazz piano and performed with the UNT Jazz Singers at the University of North Texas (UNT). She had a chance to meet with future collaborator Jesse Harris during this period. She gave a ride to a group playing at the university whose members happened to be friends of Harris. He was on a cross-country road trip with friend and new Little Willies member Richard Julian and stopped to see the band perform live. Harris began sending her lead sheets of his songs after meeting Jones.

Jones immigrated from Texas to New York City in 1999. She formed a band with Harris less than a year ago, and her albums with them were best-selling.

Personal life

Jones was in a relationship with bassist Lee Alexander from 2000 to 2007. Jones, who suffered greatly from her father, Ravi Shankar, Jones, returned to New Delhi to spend time with him and wrote some material that was later released on the album The Fall. Jones and her partner, keyboardist Pete Remm, have two children.

Norah Jones Career

Musical career

Jones was a lounge singer before becoming a recording artist. Before releasing her first studio album, Wax Poetic, Peter Malick, and jazz guitarist Charlie Hunter performed with Wax Poetic, Peter Malick.

"I started looking for a singer who might be open to recording [my new songs] for me," Peter Malick says in the liner. I stepped into the Living Room on Tuesday night, right as the singer announced the last song of the set. The room was packed with 'Since I Fell for You,' and I was struck breathless by Dinah Washington's masterpiece 'Since I Fell for You.' A stunningly stunning, blues infused voice was here, in the tradition of Billie Holidays. Norah Jones was my first contact with him. During August and September 2000, Malick requested that she attend sessions at Outer Space in South Boston. In addition to cover versions of "All Your Love" by Sam Maghett and "Heart of Mine" by Bob Dylan, they recorded Malick's songs "New York City," "Strange Transmissions," "Deceptively Yours," "Deceptively Yours," and "Things You Don't Have to Do." These songs appeared on the Peter Malick Group's album New York City (Koch, 2003), which also stars Norah Jones.

Jones, a New York City native, has signed to Blue Note, EMI Group's owned label. The decision came as an indirect result of her appearance as the lead singer for the JC Hopkins Biggish Band. Shell White, the widow of J. C. Hopkins, worked for EMI Publishing and gave Jones' three-track demo to Bruce Lundvall, the label's president, and Brian Bacchus, the company's artists and repertoire agent (A&R). Jesse Harris's song Two jazz standards and a melody were included in the demo. Jones was seen as a potential employee by the two executives. Despite their misgivings about her music's direction, they dragged her to the label. "We let her explore her own direction and we'll find great songs," Bacchus told HitQuarters.

"Battle For Her Music," Bacchus said, a producer and engineer Jay Newland's interest in jazz, blues, rock, country, and folk music would give her a "feeling for her music." Jones and Newland also appeared on nine demo tracks. Four people attended the sampler First Sessions (2001). The remainder of the songs were left aside for her debut album. Come Away With Me (2002) was praised for its blend of acoustic pop with soul and jazz. At No. 1: Debuting at No. It's now at No. 139, which is the highest level ever recorded. 1 on the United States The United States has no one. Billboard 200. The single "Don't Know Why" debuted at No. 1 on the charts. In 2003 and No. 1 on the Top 40 Adult Recurrents. In the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, number 30 is at number 30. Jones was nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Record of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Don't Know Why" at the 45th Grammy Awards in 2003. This tied for the most Grammy Awards received by a female artist in one night for Lauryn Hill and Alicia Keys. Jesse Harris was named Song of the Year for his song "Don't Know Why," while Arif Mardin was named Year of the Year. The album was named Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) had Come Away with Me for one million copies. It was a diamond that was released in February 2005 for the first ten million copies.

Feels Like Home (2004) debuted at No. 1 on the charts. In at least 16 countries, there is one in at least 16 countries. The album was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2005, one of which, "Sunrise," was awarded Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. She received "Here We Go Again," a duet with Ray Charles, and Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. Jones was named by Time magazine as one of the most influential people of 2004.

On January 30, 2007, Jones' third album, Not Too Late, was released. The album was the first time she wrote or co-wrote any song. Some of these songs, she has said, are much darker than those on her previous albums. Not Too Late was mainly recorded at Jones' home studio. Arif Mardin, the singer who died in the summer of 2006, is her first album without her producer Arif Mardin. Jones characterized the sessions as "fun, relaxed and fast" and without a deadline; Blue Note executives, according to reports, she had no idea she was recording an album. The song "My Dear Country" is political commentary; she wrote it before the United States presidential election day in 2004. Not Too Late, No. 6 came at No. 1. In twenty countries, the United States ranked 1st in the world's fastest growing economy. Not Too Late had the third-best first week of sales in 2007, behind Avril Lavigne's The Best Damn Thing and Minutes to Midnight's Minutes to Midnight. It's now No. 126. In the United States, there is one on the bestsellers, with 405,000 copies being sold. Not Too Late has been ranked gold, platinum, or multi-platinum in 21 countries as of February 2007. Around the world, the album has sold 4 million copies. "American Anthem" was a hit song on Ken Burns' documentary The War's same year.

The Fall, Jones' fourth studio album, debuted at No. 1 on the charts. In its first week, the Billboard 200 debuted three copies on the Billboard 200 in November 2009, selling 180,000 copies. Despite the fact that it was her first album that did not reach No. 1, it was her first album that did not make it to the top of the charts. It was also recognized in the United States for its contribution to the United States. Jones appeared on Dancing with the Stars, Late Show with David Letterman, Good Morning America, and other television shows as part of the album's marketing campaign. On the front page of the Fall, there was a St. Bernard; his name is Ben. "Chasing Pirates," the album's lead single, debuted at No. 1. 13 on Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks and No. No. 7 on Jazz Songs. Jones was ranked No. 1 in Billboard's 2000-2009 decade awards, naming him as the best jazz recording artist at No. 1. 60 best artists. Come Away With Me was voted the No. 1 in the United States. No. 4 album and No. There is a 1 jazz album on sale. Jones received a platinum award from the Royal Institute of British Architects for the selling of 1 million copies of The Fall. As of 2010, the album had sold 1.5 million copies worldwide and was designated gold or platinum in 14 countries. In the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals category, Willie Nelson's "Baby, It's Cold Outside" was nominated. Jones performed "Come Away With Me" and "Young Blood" at the Apple Inc.'s It's Only Rock and Roll press conference on September 9, 2009, for the introduction of iTunes 9 and video camera-equipped iPods. She also appeared and performed with other artists on the season three finale of the NBC series 30 Rock Jones.

Jones, who worked with Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi on some of their album's tracks, collaborated with Danger Mouse on her fifth studio album, Little Broken Hearts, which was released on May 1, 2012. At SXSW 2012, she performed the album in its entirety. Little Broken Hearts, an American songwriter, was described as the "most dramatic and rewarding departure she's made in her career." With appearances in Europe, North America, Asia, South America, and Australia, she began her fifth world tour in Paris on May 25, 2012. On September 10, 2012, she appeared at the Roundhouse in London as part of the iTunes Festival, which was broadcast on the internet. For the first time, she toured three cities in India because her father wanted her to do so. She also appeared at a headlining appearance at Summer's Day, the music festival run by Only Much Louder. On Wednesday, the tour began on Summer's Day in Mumbai and included stops in New Delhi on March 5 and 8.

On October 7, 2016, Day Breaks, her sixth studio album, which featured nine new songs and three cover versions, was released. On the same day, the album's lead single, "Carry On," was released in digital stores. After dabbling in folk and pop for the last two albums, the album marked a return to her piano. Jones said that the primary aim of this record was to do everything live. "When you have great musicians, there's no reason to overdub," she said in a Billboard interview. The soul is stripped out of the song," she says.

Pick Me Up Off the Floor, her seventh studio album, was released on June 12, 2020. It debuted at number 87 on the US Billboard 200, making it Jones' first album not to debut in the top three.

James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon, sons of Liverpool band The Beatles' members Sir Paul McCartney and John Lennon, have released a single together. EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: William and Kate's secret evening visit to sale of antiques in Berkshire

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 4, 2023
EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: None other than the Prince and Princess of Wales indulged in what could be described as fervent window shopping last Friday, when they paid a discreet and entirely private evening visit to auctioneers Dreweatts in Berkshire. They were all looking very, very interested,' a antique trade trade devotee tells me, adding that 'everybody was on twitter to see them.' It was the start of a huge champagne reception that auctioneers always have before a serious bidding event.' And there are few such spectacular sales as the one that drew in Prince William and Catherine.
