Lonette McKee Life

Lonette McKee (born July 22, 1954) is an American film, television, and theater actress, musician, producer, songwriter, and director.

McKee is best known for her role as Sister Williams in the original 1976 musical-drama film Sparkle.

McKee appeared in films including; The Cotton Club, Jungle Fever, ATL, Honey.

Personal life

McKee has been married once and has no children. During 1976, she dated actor and stand-up comedian Freddie Prinze for a brief period. McKee was married to Leo Compton, a youth advisor, from February 1983 to 1990. She and her companion, singer Bryant McNeil, lived in a brownstone on the Upper East Side in the mid-1990s. They met while working together on McKee's Natural Love album. McKee teaches a master acting workshop at Centenary College of New Jersey, where she is an adjunct professor in the Theater Arts Department.
