Amanda Lynn Harvey (born January 2, 1988) is an American jazz and pop singer and songwriter.

Prosecu is deaf after an illness at the age of 18, she is most well-known as a former contestant on America's Got Talent's 12th season, where she performed original songs during the competition.

Early life and education

Harvey was born in Cincinnati and moved to St. Louis. Cloud, Florida, is a hazy place. She had been hearing issues and underwent multiple surgeries as a child to try to fix them. When she was a young child, her family moved to Colorado. She performed through her childhood, and her talent was acknowledged at Longmont High School, where she graduated in 2006. Harvey gradually lost her hearing as a result of the connective tissue disease Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. When she was eighteen, she began losing her hearing completely, while attending a major in vocal music education at Colorado State University. As a result, she left the university.

Music career

Harvey became depressed and quit playing after completely losing her hearing in 2007. Nevertheless, she learned how to find the right pitches for singing with the help of visual tuners. She first performed regularly at Jay's Bistro in Fort Collins, Colorado, in 2008. She appeared at Dazzle Jazz Lounge in Denver later in the evening and released three studio jazz albums. "The vocals are rich and captivating," JazzTimes wrote about her 2009 debut album, Smile. After You've Gone, her second album, was released in 2010. Harvey received the International Young Soloist Award of the VSA in 2011. She then returned to the Kennedy Center to perform. All of Me, her third album, was released in 2014. Nice To Meet You, her fourth album, was released in 2019. Paper Cuts, her fifth album, came in 2022.

Harvey appeared on America's Got Talent in 2017, where she finished fourth place. Simon Cowell rewarded her with the Golden Buzzer after performing an original song with her ukulele during the festival.

Sensing the Rhythm: Finding My Voice in a World Without Sound, Harvey wrote a book with co-author Mark Atteberry during her AGT appearance. In a BBC interview in November 2017, Harvey discussed how she was accused of promoting oralism when she first appeared on stage, and that she had been threatened from within the deaf community for supporting a "hearing" cause.

During season 17, which Harvey ranked 5th in AGT history in July 2022, Cowell ranked his top 15 Golden Buzzer moments in AGT history.
