Career
Pileggi began his work as a writer and was fascinated in the Mafia. He is best known for writing Wise of a Mafia Family (1985), which he adapted to the film Goodfellas (1990), and writing Casino: Love and Respect in Las Vegas (1995). Martin Scorsese wrote and directed both of the movie versions. Pileggi also wrote the screenplay for the film City Hall (1996), which starred Al Pacino.
