The mafia genre has continued to defy stereotypes and incorporate elements from different film genres, such as suspense or comedy, over the years. "Mafia Mamma," the new mafia film, which opened in theaters on April 14, features a classic glimpse at the Italian mafia with a refreshing, comedic tone from Toni Collette and Monica Bellucci. Kristin, Colette's character, has unexpectedly inherits her deceased grandfather's mafia empire in Calabria, Italy, and must assume the role as a mob boss without having any experience or knowledge of the lifestyle.
