Early life
Watson was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on July 20, 1948. He studied at Louisiana Tech on a music scholarship for two years before moving to Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, where he appeared on stage for the first time in Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. He worked in outdoor dramas, dinner theaters, and small repertory companies during and after his time in Berea.
Career

Watson, who had made the leap to film in 1989, began shooting feature films. He had appeared in 43 feature films by 2005, including Sommersby, Something to Talk About, Assassins, Dead Birds, Rosewood, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Dusk To Dawn 2, The Spy Who Shagged Me, and Songcatcher. Seven of the films he has appeared in have grossed more than $850 million as of 2005.
His television credits include eight made-for-television movies, including Blind Vengeance and Justice in a Small Town, as well as the television series American Gothic, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Matlock, The Lazarus Man, JAG, Walker, Texas Ranger, and Prison Break. He appeared on episodes of Ghost Whisperer ("Delia's First Ghost") and CSI ("Who and What") in November 2007. Watson appeared in an episode of The Mentalist ("Carnelian, Inc.), as well as in the Castle episode "Punked" (October 2010).
