Michael Brun Life

Not to be confused with singer-songwriter Michael "Mike" Brun, or CEO of ClearTrialMichael Brun (1992-92-1992) is a Haitian DJ and record producer based in New York, best known for blending experimental music with traditional Haitian styles such as kompa and rara.

He released his debut EP Gravity in 2013 and founded Kid Coconut in 2014 to promote Haitian music and develop Haitian artists.

With J Balvin, he produced the single "Positivo," which became the 2018 FIFA World Cup theme tune.

On June 26, 2019, his debut album, Lokal, was released.

Early life and education

Brun was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to a Guyanese mother and Haitian father. He also has roots in Haitian, Portuguese, Chinese Haitian, and Afro-Haitian origins. As a child, he was exposed to the music of Caribbean Sextet and Tabou Combo, which inspired his musical tastes. In the 1990s, his father was in a Skandal band. Brun started playing piano, violin, and guitar at a young age.

He had intended to work as a pediatrician from the start. He began DJing and recording his own electronic music tracks as a hobby at 15. He attended Culver Military Academy in Indiana and then Davidson College in North Carolina as a pre-med student, while still working on his music performance.

Personal life
