Early life
Hagner was born in New York City and grew up in Houston, Texas, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She attended Chapel Hill High School, graduating in 2005. She attended the Boston Conservatory for a year but then moved to New York after being given acting opportunities. She appeared in television and radio ads for 3M, Acuvue, JCPenney, Levi's, Radio Shack, Subway, and Truth in New York while in New York.
Personal life
After meeting on the set of the film Folk Hero & Funny Guy in 2015, Hagner began a friendship with actor Wyatt Russell. In December 2018, the couple got engaged and married in 2019. In November 2020, the couple revealed that they were expecting their first child. Buddy Prine Russell Russell's son was born in March 2021.
Career
In 2008, Hagner appeared on As the World Turns, as Liberty Ciccone, Brad Snyder's illegitimate daughter, and Janet Ciccone's niece. In 2009, she was nominated for the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. Hagner completed her two-year career as the lead in March 2010, after a career on primetime television and feature film.
Hagner appeared in the FX short-lived 2011 drama series Lights Out. She was later cast as lead on The CW's Awakening, but it wasn't confirmed to series. Hagner has appeared on USA Network as Libby, a young adult with an unusual case of cyberchondria from 2009 to 2011, and The Following. Hagner first appeared in the TBS comedy series Men at Work in 2012. In 2014, the program was cancelled after three seasons.
In 2016, Hagner returned to television in TBS' dark comedy Search Party. Portia Davenport, Hagner's accidental investigative sidekick, appears in all five seasons. Rolling Stone magazine named her as one of the "20 Best TV Characters In 2016" in her story.
