Early life

Birdsong was born in Florida and grew up on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, one of five siblings. In 1986, she graduated from Southern Regional High School.

Career

Birdsong is a graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned a BFA in acting. In the 1996 television film Live On Tape, she made her on-screen debut. On Reno 911, she is best known as Deputy Cherisha Kimball. (2005-2007, 2020-present) and it's two spin-off films from 2007 and 2021, respectively. In the Alexander Payne film The Descendants, she is also known for playing Nancy McDonald in Rob Zombie's Halloween II and Kai Mitchell opposite George Clooney. She appeared in the stoner comedy High School (2010) as Mrs. Gordon, a high school dean's promiscuous wife. In addition, Made of Honor and Perpety Jackson: Sea of Monsters, as well as the psychological thriller Buried, she has made numerous cameos on film and television, including in the major films Made of Honor and Perception Jackson: Sea of Monsters. She is a former reporter for The Daily Show and Crossballs. In an animated film such as Goldie and Bear, Stroker, and Hoop, Little Bill, she has appeared in Goldie and Bear, No. 1, Tacoma T.U.F. (as Dorado's mother in the episode "New Foods"), Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law, T.U.F. vs. Juju. T.U.F. F. Puppy, Stroker and Hoop, as well as the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight, and the animated film Beavis and Butt Do the Universe were included in Tiberian Twilight.

Birdsong appeared in the Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me comedy musical from July 2006 to January 2007, as well as Martin Short, Marc Shaiman, Brooks Ashmanskas, and Capathia Jenkins, who received a Theatre World Award for her role. Birdsong performed on the Broadway cast of the musical Hairspray on January 29, 2008. Velma Von Tussle, the bigoted, pushy stage mother and television producer, appeared on television. On April 6, 2008, Birdsong joined the company.
