Marcos Novoa Pazos, a Spanish-Spanish actor, and for his role in The Blind Sunflowers (Los girasoles ciegos), which earned him a nomination for the Goya Award for Best New Actor, he is best known for his appearance as Marcos Novoa Pazos in the Antena 3 series The Boarding School (Spanish: El internado) and for his role as Marcos Novoa Pazos

Early life and education

Martio Rivas López, a child of the Dominicas, was born in Vimianzo, A Corua, Spain, on January 10th, 1985. He is Manuel Rivas, a writer and journalist, and Mara Isabel López Mario, the only son of Manuel Rivas. Rivas graduated from high school in London and then studied audiovisual communication at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He speaks Spanish, Galician, and English. Rivas was chastised for speaking Spanish with a Galician accent.

Acting career

Rivas began his acting career as a child actor with the TVG program Mareas vivas (English: Live Tides), which was produced in Galician language. He appeared in another Galician language film, Maridos e mulleres (Husbands And Wives), which was also produced by TVG.

Rivas came to wider media attention in 2006, when he took on Moisés in the LaSexta series SMS opposite Yon González, Amaia Salamanca, Mario Casas, and others. Marcos Novoa Pazos was portrayed in the Antena 3 series El internado (The Boarding School), which earned him international renown.

Rivas appeared in José Luis Cuerda's film Los girasoles ciegos (The Blind Sunflowers), opposite Javier Cámara and Maribel Verd, earning him a nomination for Best New Actor in 2008. He and his El internado colleague Blanca Suárez appeared in the short film Universos (Universes) the following year.

Rivas studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London from 2010 to 2011, earning a Masters in Classical Acting. Rivas made his professional debut in Dracula, in which he portrayed Jonathan Harker. On Telecinco, he also stars in El don de Alba (Alba's Gift).

Carlos Cifuentes plays a big, continuing role in Las Chicas del Cable; the first season premiered on Netflix in April 2017. In 2020, the fifth season of the Islanders will premiere.
