Marline Yan (born January 9, 1993 in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian actress and singer.
She makes her most well-known appearance in the Canadian television series How To Be Indie.
Career
Yan began performing and singing in local theatre companies at ten years old. She is often mistaken to be of Filipino descent due to her portrayal of the fictional Filipino character in the popular YTV series How to Be Indie. However, Marline had condemned this rumors of her being of Filipino descent on her Twitter blog. Marline is of mixed Asian origins as she is of Cambodian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, and Indian descent. She was named as the leading role in a production of Romeo and Juliet in her first year of high school at John Paul II Catholic Secondary School in London, Ontario. She first signed on to an agency, and a year later, she was cast in the role of Abigail, a Filipino-Canadian girl who is also Indie's best friend in the YTV series How To Be Indie. In the hit Family Channel series Connor Undercover, she appeared as Sophia later this year.
Yan was cast in a minor two-episode role for Wingin' It, a children's series that also starred How to Be Indie co-star Dylan Everett. Made... she most recently made a television film called Made... The movie was shot for a forthcoming Trigger. She appeared on How To Be Indie's second season, which premiered in fall 2010.
