Mark White Life

Mark Wells White Jr. (March 17, 1940-1990) was an American politician and advocate who served as Texas's 43rd Governor from 1983 to 1987.

He served as Secretary of State of Texas (1973–77) and as Texas Attorney General (1979–83). In the 1982 gubernatorial election, White was voted governor, overruling incumbent Bill Clements.

To attract new industry to Texas, a member of the Democratic Party, White, hoped to increase education, transportation, water supplies, and taxes.

He appointed the first Hispanic woman to serve as the judge of a district court in Texas.

Former Republican Governor Clements was defeated by 51.7 percent to 46.0% in the 1986 gubernatorial election.

On a small island of Purbeck that has been frozen in time ever since, the last living man from the 'village that died for England' makes his farewell visit to the tiny Isle of Purbeck settlement, which has been evaded during WWII

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 11, 2024
The last surviving man from a ghost village has returned for a farewell visit to the settlement, which was evacuated during World War II. For 81 years after the army commanded it during the war, the tiny Isle of Purbeck settlement has been deserted. Peter Wellman, 99 (pictured at the village) has returned to Tyneham, Dorset, which was evacuated just before Christmas 1943 to allow the army to extend its ranges. Around 250 people were evicted from the valley farms, but they promised to return if Hitler had been seen off. They were never allowed to return. Although still on MoD land, Warbarrow Bay's historic buildings and the walk to the beach are open to the public for 160 days of the year, marking a moment in time when it was frozen.

The incredible story of New Zealand's World War 2 Māori battalion

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 19, 2023
It is one of the most iconic and memorable photographs from the Second World War, with Maori infantrymen bristling with warrior spirit, mid-haka in Egypt in 1941. The soldiers from the celebrated 28th (Mori) Battalion of the 2nd New Zealand Division look well groomed but fearful and fearful, ready for any enemy. They lived up to the vigor captured in the picture after six bloody years of war.

In a £2.7 million conflict, Lidl has discredited my company, according to the boss

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 21, 2023
Proctor & Associates' founder and managing director Deane Proctor is fighting a David and Goliath war against the company, which has been steadily growing in the United Kingdom. He claims he was stabbed in the back by Lidl, which has cancelled or slashed orders with insufficient warning and sued his own suppliers from under his nose. The situation, according to industry experts, is significant because it puts the effectiveness of the Groceries Supply Code of Practice into question, which was introduced amid complaints that supermarkets were bullying their suppliers.
