Mark Alexander Ballas Jr. (born May 24, 1986) is an American dancer, choreographer, singer-songwriter, guitarist, and actor. Ballas is a professional ballroom dancer on ABC's Dancing with the Stars program.
He debuted on the program in season five in 2007 and was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography in 2011.

Personal life
Ballas was born in Houston, Texas, and the son of dancers Corky Ballas and Shirley Ballas (née Rich). His paternal grandparents were of Mexican and Greek roots, and his mother is of predominantly English descent. His mother also has distant Malagasy ancestry from Madagascar. George Ballas, his paternal grandfather, was the inventor of the Weed Eater lawn-trimming machine. Karolos ("Charles") Ballas and Maria Lymnaos, his paternal grandparents, immigrated to the United States from Greece.
Ballas and his partner, BC Jean, are a member of singer-songwriter duo Alexander Jean and his partner, Larry Jean. After three years of dating, the two became engaged in November 2015 in Malibu, California, and they were married on November 25.
Career
Ballas attended Rosemead Preparatory School in South London. He earned a full scholarship as a student at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London at the age of 11. He was named "Performer of the Year" in 2005. He went on to win championships at The British Open to the World, The US Open to the World, and The International Open to the World. He and his late partner Julianne Hough won the Junior Latin American Dance Championship and the gold medal at the Junior Olympics.
Ballas was a lead role in the musical Copacabana and was the lead dancer in the UK national tour of the Spanish musical Maria de Buenos Aires as an actor. He was also the understudy for Ritchie Valens' role in Buddy, the Buddy Holly Story, a national tour of the United Kingdom. As part of the Hufflepuff House, Ballas appeared as an extra in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Ballas appeared on Samantha Who's season premiere in October 2008.
Ballas will be the last actor to play Frankie Valli in the Broadway cast of Jersey Boys before it finishes in 2017.
