On ABC-TV, Kerry as a youth appeared in "Sharon" in the first network sitcoms, The Ruggles. For Cambria Productions' The New Three Stooges and Space Angel animated series, she provided numerous voices and live-action lead-ins.

During the planning stages of the animated film Peter Pan, Kerry answered an audition call. The audition, which was supervised by animator Marc Davis, required her to pantomime the movements that would be used as a live-action reference for Tinker Bell's animation. As Tinker Bell's appearances were not verbal, her movements would be integral, and Davis wanted a dancer that would help portray the character. Kerry won the role and spent six months at the Disney Studios on a mostly empty sound stage pantomiming the role. In the scene where Tinker Bell became trapped in a jewelry box, the studios produced props, notably a massive keyhole mounted on a stand as well as a pair of massive scissors. Kerry also gave the red-haired mermaid's voice and reference movements in the Neverland lagoon scene.
