Elizabeth Allen Life

Elizabeth Allen (born Elizabeth Ellen Gillease, 1929 — September 19, 2006) was an American theatre, television, and film actress whose forty-year career spanned the mid-1950s to the mid-1990s, including scores of TV episodes as well as six theatrical films, two of which (1964's Donovan's Reef, for which she was named Best New Female Personality and 1964's Cheyenne Autumn) was directed by John Ford. She appeared in five television series: The Jackie Gleason Show (1972–1973), Bracken's World (1969–1971), CPO Sharkey (1976–1971), and the daytime drama Texas (1980–1981), alongside her active television career and receiving two Tony nominations in 1962 for Do I Hear a Waltz?

Early life

Allen, a native of Jersey City, New Jersey, began her career as a Ford Agency high-fashion model.

Personal life and death

She was briefly married to Baron Karl von Vietinghoff-Scheel, but they divorced and she never recovered. Allen later appeared on Tattletales as the companion of Charles Nelson Reilly, although Reilly was gay in real life. This was done so that Reilly would appear on the program.

Allen, 77, died of kidney disease in Fishkill, New York. She was predeceased by her only sibling, Joseph L. Gillease, and her niece, Erin Gillease Phelan, as well as two grand-nieces, Alicia Phelan and Alexandria Phelan.
