Malini Fonseka Life

Wanniarachchige Malini Fonseka (born in Kelaniya, 1947) is a Sri Lankan film actress and former Sri Lankan parliament speaker who is also known as the "Queen of Sinhalese cinema" in various countries.

Tissa Liyansooriya's Punchi Baba began her cinema career, which has spanned many decades.

Hingana Kolla's 'Best Actress Award' at the 1969 National State Drama Festival was the first woman to win these awards. Sarasaviya Best Actress Awards for Hingana Kolla in 1980, Aradhana in 1982, and Yasa Isuru in 1983 were among the first female winners.

She was named as one of Asia's top film actors of all time in 2010.

Career

Fonseka began her acting career with stage dramas. With "Noratha Ratha" in 1963, she made her first appearance in stage dramas. Fonseka earned the best stage drama actress national award in 1968 for her role in Akal Wessa. She has since been the lead actress in 14 stage plays. Ananda Fonseka, one of her brothers, introduced her to cinema by Tissa Liyansuriya and Joe Abeywickrama, but she was introduced to the cinema itself by Tissa Liyansuriya and Joe Abeywickrama.

In 1968, she made her debut with Tissa Liyansuriya's Punchi Baba (The Little Baby). Abudasse kale, Dahasak Sithuwili, and Adarawanthayo were among the films that followed each other in the same year. She was given the lead role by several film directors of the time due to her critical success with these. Since being a kid in over 140 films, many of which were foreign films, Fonseka has appeared in over 140 films. Malini's career was enhanced by her association with Gamini Fonseka, who had a long career in the silver screen industry. At Gamini's funeral in 2004, Malini said, "His appearance had sway across the board, and I had the privilege of being associated with Gamini." The cinema of the period is slowly fades away, and Gamini's passing is yet another step forward.

Nidhanaya by Lester James Peiris, Siripala Saha Ranmenika by Amaranath Jayathilake, Eya Den Loku Lamayek, and Bambaru Ewith by Dharma Pathiraja are among her best films. In 1984, she reached a major milestone in her artistic career with Sasara Chetana, where she served as both its director and producer. So far, she has appeared in two other films: Ahimsa in 1987 and Sthree in 1991. In 1978, she met Sivaji Ganeshan, a well-known Tamil actress, in Pilot Premnath. She began working in television later on. Fonseka has been praised for her role in Manalada Puthe Kiri Dunne, Pitagamkarayo, Kemmura, and Ambu Daruwo teledramas. For her appearances in Pitagamkarayo and Kemmura, she received the Sumathi Best Teledrama Actress Awards.

Sanasili Suwanda was also known as a teledrama producer, with hit series such as Sanasili Suwanda. When she first acted and directed in her first teledrama in Sri Lanka's history, she had the privilege of being the first female teledrama director in the country's history. She appeared in Sunil Ariyaratne's Buddhist dramatic film Uppalawanna.
