Early life
Peters was born and grew up in Steyning, West Sussex, England. Ellen is Ellen's twin sister. She appeared in a choir at about age eight. She also tried to play the flute, but it was not successful. Since borrowing her friend's guitar for a school project, she wrote her first song at age nine and started writing songs regularly at the age of 12. She attended Steyning Grammar School, where she took home a talent show in March 2015. She began busking on Brighton's streets and began posting original songs on YouTube.
Music career
Peters began performing on The Ayala Show in 2016. On the program, age 15, she performed several self-written songs. Peters' first two songs, "Place We Were Made" and "Birthday," were released by the artist a year later. The songs gained traction in indie-pop circles, and "Place We Were Made" was named BBC Introducing's song of the week early this week. Peters has signed with Atlantic Records UK as a result of this apprehension. She has released various singles and two EPs, Dressed to a Jacket, It's Your Bed Babe, and It's Your Funeral. Both "Feels Like This" (of Dressed Too Nice for a Jacket) and "Favourite Ex" (which was announced as a single) appeared on Love Island in 2019.
Peters contributed "Smile" to the soundtrack album Birds of Prey: The Album in 2020. She was also confirmed as the opening act for Niall Horan's Nice to Meet Ya Tour in Europe. These performances were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Peters appeared on another soundtrack, this time for the Apple TV+ original series Trying. With a tribute to fellow British recording artist James Bay on the album "Funeral," she wrote and performed all songs.
Peters joined Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records label later in 2021. On the 27th of August 2021, she released her debut album You Signed Up for This. The album debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart and was the top-selling album in UK independent record stores for the week. Peters' first two singles, "John Hughes Movie" and "Psycho," were among the first two hits of the British charts.
Peters embarked on her first headlining tour in 2022, a trip to the United States. Sheeran's +–=x Tour opened in 1999 as the first act. She also released singles entitled "Cate's Brother," "Blonde," and "Not Another Rockstar" as a result of her debut. In her latest music, she cited several (pop) rock bands as influences. In April 2023, Peters will visit the United Kingdom for the first time.
