Lucas Moura Career

Club career

Moura joined So Paulo FC in 2005 after being active with Clube Atlético Juventus and Corinthians' youth teams, and he was known as Marcelinho from the start of his football career at a Marcelinho Carioca football academy as a child, as well as physical appearance with the former footballer. He was recruited to play professionally by Milton Cruz, who had gained a following at the youth level. In 2010, Moura made his debut with the So Paulo first team, scoring four goals and four assists in 25 appearances. "Make his own history in football without comparisons" is the subject of a year of regret. In 2011, Moura scored nine goals and four assists in 28 appearances in the Campeonato Brasileiro, with 13 goals and eight assists in all leagues.

Manchester United and Inter Milan were reported to be interested in signing Moura during the summer of 2012. On August 8, 2012, Paris Saint-Germain defeated the opposition and announced that the player will return to the club in January 2013. He will be the club's most expensive signing. The transfer fee was estimated to be in the region of €45 million (£38 million). It was confirmed that Moura would sport the No. 66. The 29 shirt will be used for the remainder of the season.

In a match that ended in a 0–0 draw, Moura made his debut against AC Ajaccio on January 11, 2013. He also participated in the Champions League away victory over Valencia on February 12th, contributing to a goal. In a 2–0 league victory over Bordeaux on September 13, he scored his first goal for PSG.

Moura received the No. 154 for the 2014–15 season, following Jérémy Ménez' transfer to A.C. Milan. He wore a 7 shirt while playing for S. Paulo, the same number he wore when playing for So Paulo. In PSG's 2–0 Trophée des Champions win over Coupe de France champions EA Guingamp on August 2, 2014 at the Workers Stadium in Beijing, he made his season debut.

PSG defeated Bastia 2–0 for his first goal of the 2014-15 Ligue 1 campaign, with volleying in a Gregory van der Wiel cross on August 16th. Moura scored the first goal in a match that ended 1–1 against title rivals Monaco on October 5th. PSG's 3–0 victory over Bordeaux on October 25th equaled his previous season in terms of league goals.

In PSG's 1–0 victory over Lille OSC at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on August 7, 2015, Moura scored the first goal of the 2015-16 Ligue 1 season.

Moura scored PSG's first goal in the 13th minute in a 2–1 away win over AS Nancy in a Ligue 1 match with a curling free-kick from the left, which no one had a touch on; it was his fifth league goal of the 2016-2017 Ligue 1 season. He appeared only as a replacement six times for the club in the 2017-18 Ligue 1 season, and then resigned in January 2018.

Moura agreed to a Tottenham Hotspur transfer fee of around £25 million on January 31, 2018. On February 13, 2018, he made his Tottenham debut against Juventus in the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League match, ending in a 2–2 draw. In the FA Cup match against Rochdale on February 18, he made his first appearance as well as scoring his first goal for the club.

Moura scored his first Premier League goal in Spurs' 3–1 victory over Fulham on August 18, 2018. Tottenham won 31-0 in their third away victory at Old Trafford in 27 games on Sunday, with a brace against Manchester United. In the group round match against PSV, he scored his first Champions League goal for Spurs. Moura scored a late equalizer in the away match against Barcelona at Camp Nou, after Barcelona took the lead early in the game. Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona lost 1–1, bringing Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona together in the knockout stage. In the 4–0 victory over Huddersfield Town on April 13, he scored a hat-trick. This was his first hat-trick in Europe and the first hat-trick scored at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In Tottenham's 3–2 victory over Ajax in the second leg of their Champions League semi-finals on May 8, 2019, Moura scored a second half hat-trick. Spurs came back from 2–0 down on the night and 3–0 down on aggregate to win on away goals. For the first time in history, his team advanced to the Champions League final in the 96th minute. Because of his success, L'Équipe gave him a perfect 10 rating, making him the tenth player to be given a ten rating by them.

Moura signed a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur until 2024 on August 9th. On August 17, 2019, he scored his first goal of the 2019-20 season, defeating Manchester City within nineteen seconds of being brought as a replacement.

He appeared in three matches as a replacement, including the Gold medal match with Mexico, and started in the 3–0 group stage victory over New Zealand, beginning with the 3–0 group stage victory over New Zealand.

There is room for improvement for Harry Kane in one crucial area despite the Bayern star enjoying the best season of his career, writes MATT BARLOW

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 28, 2024
The last time Harry Kane reached this stage of the Champions League he was injured and unable to contribute in the usual way. With Tottenham trailing 3-0 on aggregate at Ajax, Kane made his way down from his seat in the stands to the dressing room to deliver a half-time pep talk. Whether the inspiration came from him or boss Mauricio Pochettino, who also spoke, or neither of them, Lucas Moura responded with a hat trick. Spurs went into the final in Madrid and Kane, after two months out, declared himself fit. Moura went back to the bench. Liverpool won 2-0. Heartbreak for Tottenham who did not expect to win the Champions League but were beginning to wonder if their name was on the cup. It wasn't. It rarely is these days. Five years on, Kane is still waits for the major trophy nobody will begrudge him after a decade of pure excellence.

How Tottenham's thunderbolt Micky van de Ven became the Premier League's fastest EVER player... and the club who said he wasn't quick enough

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 13, 2024
KIERAN GILL: Time spent getting to know the thunderbolt of Tottenham revealed a rise equally as rapid, though Micky van de Ven's sprint to stardom was not without the odd stumble, a particularly painful one arriving at 16 years old when told he lacked the speed to succeed. It is a ludicrous tale - how a club in the Dutch second division came so close to discarding the defender now testing the shutter speeds of photographers' cameras at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Today, he holds the Premier League record as its fastest-ever player, previously clocked at 23.23mph. Back then, he supposedly smuggled lead in his socks, a story which Van de Ven's father, Marcel, related to Mail Sport this week. 'When the Volendam trainer said, "You're not fast enough and not good enough", I understood that a kid who's 16 might think, "That's it. I'm done. I have to go",' Marcel said, speaking from his native Netherlands. 'But I told him, "This is the best message they are ever going to give you. You know you can play, so play. If you think they are going to send you away, just play. And if they send you away, I will bring you to the club where you can play with your friends. But for now, go on. Do what you like. Do what you love. Do what you want. Live your dream".

The reason why away goals rule was scrapped by UEFA in 2021 - as Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Man City play out thrilling draws... but how would the old regulation impact this season's Champions League games?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 10, 2024
The away goals rule has not been used in European tournaments since the 2021-22 season after UEFA announced that they would be abolishing the regulation that had been an intrinsic part of European tournaments since the 1960s. The regulation would certainly have some significance following Tuesday's opening round of Champions League quarter-final matches if it was still in place, with Arsenal holding Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates, while Manchester City rallied to secure a 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid.  Prior to 2021, it would mean that Arsenal would travel to the Allianz Arena in their second fixture and would need to attack against the Bundesliga Champions. City, meanwhile, would perhaps be more comfortable in their return leg against Madrid, should that game end in a draw - but anything can happen in football, right?
