Ashley Rose Newton (born April 13, 1985), also known as Lee Newton, is an American actress, comedian, and Web personality.

She has appeared on The Gym Comedy group as a former co-host and a regular performer of SourceFed.

Early life

Lee Newton was born in Coarsegold, California. She believes she is "a mash-up of her Father's wit and sarcasm, as well as her Mother's complete absurdity." She has a brother and a sister as well. Jake, her brother, is a performer, and he has his own YouTube channel. On March 2, 2012, a video of the two singing a song cover of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" was posted on her brother's YouTube channel.

Newton was born with a ventricular septal defect, an atrial septal defect, transposition of the large vessels, and pulmonic stenosis. Between the ages of 14 days and 13 years old, she has had four open heart surgeries. Newton has often stated that she is a fan of organ donation.

Lee Newton Career

Online career

Newton first rose to fame as the co-host of SourceFed, a YouTube pop culture and news website. The channel was one of the first 100 YouTube premium channels.

Elliott Morgan and Joe Bereta, Lee Newton's co-hosts, posted a video relating to the list of Maxim's Hot 100, which is updated every year. Lee's co-hosts advised the viewers to vote for her as a 'write-in' without Lee knowing. The decision to do this came as a result of the overwhelming response from other SourceFed videos, specifically AskMen's Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2012. Newton should not have been included in these lists, according to the surveyors. After a flooded of votes for her, Maxim's voting website added a CAPTCHA. Maxim published a list of the most popular 'write-in' candidates on April 3, 2012, including Lee Newton, who wrote that she had 'list potential.' As a result, she ranked #57 in Maxim's Hot 100. Newton received a Maxim profile in the following year.

Newton and her SourceFed co-hosts have been interviewed on two occasions by New Media Rockstars. Newton said in an interview with the online publication, "I think we lucked out having a team of hosts that really got along and shared Phil's vision," and we're able to get to the bottom of it quickly because he has such a concise idea of what he wanted and also had four people who really like each other and who can write really well." It was just electricity. It was a partnership that really began to flourish." The tweet was in reaction to the SourceFed YouTube channel's milestone of 500,000 followers.

In a Taco Bell commercial in March 2013, Newton appeared alongside SourceFed co-host Steve Zaragoza and creator Philip DeFranco. SourceFed Nerd, a spin-off channel, was launched later in May, on which Newton appeared.

In May 2013, Newton appeared in an episode of the Fine Brothers' React, alongside SourceFed co-host Steve Zaragoza. Newton will return to the Fine Brothers for the second season as she appeared on MyMusic for the second time. Newton played Country, Idol's cousin. Newton was also included in Toby Turner's HEELY COPS video.

Newton appeared on YouTube channels outside of SourceFed and Fine Brothers' collection; Newton appeared in the ninth episode of Rhett and Link's The Mythical Show, alongside Bereta and Morgan. In 2013, Newton appeared as Tanya Burkowitz and Katelynn Zales in the stop-motion animated web series The Most Popular Girls in School.

Newton appeared in her last video before her departure from SourceFed on March 28, 2015, alongside former SourceFed host Ross Everett.

Newton, along with founding SourceFed hosts Joe Bereta, Elliott Morgan, and Steve Zaragoza, launched The Valleyfolk, a production company and YouTube channel. The Valleyfolk is a mash-up of several series. They include The Valleycast, a podcast series, and Your Show, a variety series. The Valleyfolk appeared on the NBC comedy competition show Bring the Funny, winning the show's first season in 2019. Newton's employment with the company was terminated on September 23, 2019.
