Lee Min-ho Life

Lee Min-ho (Korean), born on June 22, 1987, is a South Korean actor, singer, and model.

With his role as Gu Jun-pyo in Boys Over Flowers in 2009, he gained a following in Korea and some parts of Asia.

At the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards, his work earned him the Best New Actor award.

City Hunter (2011), The Heirs (2013), and Legend of the Blue Sea (2016) are among his notable lead roles in television series.

Lee's popularity as a top Hallyu actor came from his success with his television series in Asia.

Lee appeared in his first lead role in Gangnam Blues (2015), as well as his first China-produced film Bounty Hunters (2016).

Early life and education

Lee Min-ho was born in Heukseok-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, on June 22, 1987. He is the youngest of their two children and was raised by Buddhist parents. As a youth, Lee aspired to be a professional football player.

He was selected for the junior football class of boss and ex-professional player Cha Bum-kun while attending Namseong Elementary School (). However, an injury in fifth grade put an end to his aspirations. Other students would joke and call Lee names right away, beginning with Namseong. He recalled his colleagues nicknaming him kkamdungi (lit. ), during a 2009 interview with The Asia Business Daily. In reference to his tan skin, he says'darkie'. Other nicknames included "skeleton" from his time at Banpo Middle School () and "demonium" in high school, although the former was based on the belief that he was "too skinny," while the latter phrase represented his "playful" personality.

Lee had already decided on acting and modeling by his first year at Danggok High School (). He met the future president of Starhaus Entertainment coincidentally after he posed for a few magazines. The experience would fuel his recent work as an actor, and he'd eventually sign with the company in 2005.

Lee first attended Konkuk University in 2006. He started majoring in Film Arts at the University of Art and Design, for which he has since earned a bachelor's degree. He is enrolled in a film graduate program at Kookmin University Graduate School.

Personal life

Yun-jeong, Lee's elder sister, is the co-founder and CEO of his current company MYM Entertainment.

Despite his Buddhist upbringing, Lee is irreligious.

Lee's acting career was put on hold for a year after crashing with fellow actor Jung Il-woo and two others in 2006. A group of friends was heading for Gangwon Province when a car was stopped on the opposite lane after running from a previous hit-and-run attack, destroying their vehicle's hood and engine. Both Lee and Jung, who were seated in the back of the vehicle, survived the fire in a critical condition. The children's companions, who were all sitting in the front of the car, died on the spot. Lee was severely wounded and in a coma for a month, after which he spent months bedridden. His fractured ribs, thigh, and ankle were among his ankle injuries, as well as a tear in his knee cartilage. A 46-centimeter metal pin was inserted in his thigh, making one of his legs shorter than the other.

Lee Min-ho began his compulsory military service at the Suseo Social Welfare Centre in Gangnam District Office on May 12, 2017, as a public service officer. Lee was unable to serve as an active duty soldier as a result of a car accident in August 2006. While filming City Hunter, he suffered another car accident in 2011.

Lee began his military service at the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, on March 15, 2018. After four weeks of basic military service service, he returned to his public service service duties. On April 25, 2019, he was released from South Korean Military service.

Lee Min-ho Career

Career

Lee began auditioning and was granted minor roles in many television shows, including Romance, Nonstop, and Recipe of Love. In an EBS series titled Secret Campus (2006), his official debut (main) role was in an EBS series. Lee Min used to be Lee Min's stage name early in his career because his employer thought his birth name was too ordinary. However, as his stage name was announced and printed in the same way as the Korean word "immigration," he later said it was difficult to find himself in internet search results. He eventually returned to using his old name.

His acting career was put on hold for a year after a serious car accident while riding in the back of a vehicle with fellow actor Jung Il-woo in 2006. They were able to get to the front seat to their two companions, who were seated in the front row. Lee was seriously wounded and spent several months bedridden. On his return from recovery, Lee played his first leading role in Mackerel Run in 2007, but the series was limited to just eight episodes due to poor viewership ratings. In 2008, he appeared on television (dramas Get Up and I Am Sam) and two films, Public Enemy Returns, and Our School's E.T. "I recognize a celebrity when I see one," Kim said on a variety show named Win Win: "I know a star when I see one." When I was doing Our School's E.T., I knew Lee Min-ho would be one of the country's best actors."

Lee's breakthrough came in 2009 with the lead role of Gu Jun-pyo in KBS' Boys Over Flowers, the Korean interpretation of the famous Shjo manga of the same name. Lee was in a lot of competition for his leading role, and he only learned that he had been chosen through the newspapers. During its broadcast, the series attracted high viewership and buzz throughout South Korea. Lee's recent fame gained him several endorsement contracts and sparked another Korean wave that made Lee a Hallyu celebrity.

In 2010, Lee appeared in romantic comedy Personal Taste, in which he played a young architect pretending to be a gay man in order to become roommates with a young woman, sparking serious romance difficulties. When asked why he chose the position during an interview, he replied, "I think I would do a better job doing heavy and more defined roles as an older adult." Personal Taste is fine, since it is bright and cheerful, but it is also a great deal to laugh and cry over it."

He portrayed the titular character in City Hunter, a live action drama based on Tsuka Hojo's famous manga. The drama, which culminated in Lee's growing success in Japan, Philippines, China, and France, was a commercial success that contributed to his growing fame, especially in Japan, Philippines, China, and France. In December 2011, he appeared in a well-known Chinese variety show, Happy Camp.

Lee appeared in Faith with Kim Hee-sun, a historical-medical drama. Despite the fact that the drama attracted viewership ratings around the 10% range, it was a commercial failure due to the lack of funding.

Lee's wax figure was unveiled at the Madame Tussauds Shanghai in April 2013. In May 2013, he first released his first album "My Everything" and began a fan meeting tour in Asia.

Lee also announced his return to television with the creation of The Heirs, a teen romance written by Kim Eun-sook. "I wanted to play a more upbeat character, one that would help me to regain that feeling of simple, uncomplicated innocence that I had when I was younger." The Heirs gained a hefty following locally, with a peak rating of 28.6%, and internationally, with over one billion hits on the Chinese streaming website iQiyi. Lee's global fame has risen.

At Madame Tussauds Hong Kong in January 2014, a second wax figure of Lee was unveiled. Lee became the first Korean celebrity to appear on China's CCTV Lunar New Year Gala on January 30, 2010. He performed a song with Harlem Yu, the original singer of Meteor Garden's theme song, as the Taiwanese version of Boys Over Flowers. He was also invited to the third conference of the South Korean Presidential Committee for Cultural Enrichment as the representative for the entertainment industry to discuss and contribute to the discussion of topics pertaining to the development of Korea's cultural content. Lee was given the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 5th Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards for his service to Hallyu.

Lee continued to record and record his second EP Song for You in October 2014 under Universal Music. He said the songs were recorded for his fans and that he had no desire to pursue a singing career as with his previous albums. The album was released in tandem with the beginning of his RE:MINHO fan reunion tour, which spanned several Asian cities.

He then appeared in Yoo Ha's noir action film Gangnam Blues (2015), which was set in the 1970s, just as the real estate construction boom swept through the Gangnam area. Lee's first leading role in a feature film is in the film, co-starring Kim Rae-won.

In 2016, Lee appeared in the action comedy Bounty Hunters, directed by Shin Terra. On its first day, the film dominated box office charts and went on to gross US$31 million in China. Lee made his small-screen return to the fantasy romance drama The Legend of the Blue Sea, alongside actress Jun Ji-hyun, which was a huge success later this year.

Lee was co-eun in the SBS-broadcast and Netflix-distributed romantic-fantasy story The King: Eternal Monarch, a book by Heirs writer Kim Eun-sook, was published in 2019. Following Lee's return from mandatory military service, it was hailed as one of the most awaited series of the first half of 2020. The series set a new high in SBS' highest domestic television viewership ratings on the first week of the weekly Wavve drama chart for eight weeks in a row, but it received mixed reviews and lower-than-expected domestic TV viewership ratings on later episodes relative to Kim Eun-sook's previous works. The series was also ranked as the most popular Korean drama series on Netflix in India, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore, and Singapore, and it was also one of the top two in the United States.

Lee was cast in Apple TV's Pachinko, based on Min Jin Lee's book of the same name. The Pachinko series premiered in March 2022 and has received universal critical acclaim for Lee's role and other lead cast as well as critics' statements that "Pachinko is a sweeping epic that depicts both historical and family ties."
