LaWanda Lindsey Life

LaWanda Lindsey (born January 12, 1953 in Tampa, Florida) is a country music performer.

She began her career at the age of 14 and had her first nationally charted career with "Partly Bill" at age 16.

During this period, she was one of many young artists recording country music for Chart Records, and she was partnered with country singer-songwriter Kenny Vernon to record a number of duets.

She got her start on WEAS-AM radio station in Savannah, Georgia, where her father, Norman H. "Lefty" Lindsey, was the General Manager and on-air personality.

She became a protégé of Buck Owens in 1973 and began recording for Capitol Records, but by 1977-1978, she was on Mercury Records. LaWanda Lindsey performed 14 songs on the Billboard country charts from 1969 to 1978, but only two of her songs ("Pickin' Wild Berries" in 1970 and "Hello Out There") appeared in the top 30, with "Wanda" in 1977 and "Hello Out There" in 1973.

She had nevertheless had a good mid-level career in the industry before retiring in 1979.
