Early life
Laura Devon was born in Chicago on May 23, 1931. Either Mary Lou Briley or Mary Laura Briley have given her birth names. In the press, Merrill Devon, a computer scientist, and her mother, Velma Prather, were identified.
She attended high school in Chicago and Grosse Pointe. She studied journalism and political science at Wayne State University, where she learned how to act in school theater performances.
In 1954, she gave birth to Kevin, her only child, who later became a well-known screenwriter. Her first professional appearance in a revival of The Boy Friend at the Vanguard Playhouse in Detroit was a lead.
Brian Kelly, the son of Justice Harry F. Kelly, became a member of the Michigan Supreme Court and a former governor of Michigan in 1962. Kelly, a fellow actor, performed in Toys of Lillian Hellman in the Laguna Beach Summer Theater a month after their wedding. Devon and Kelly appeared together on stage in Lillian Hellman's Toys. He was going to be known for his role as Porter Ricks on the television show Flipper two years ago. In January 1966, the two were divorced.
Later life and death
Laura Devon died of heart disease in Beverly Hills on July 19, 2007.

Laura Devon was discovered by Bob Goldstein of 20th Century Fox in 1961 while performing at the London Chop House in Detroit. She discusses her experience with Hollywood in this manner:
Devon appeared in several popular TV shows over the eight years from 1960 to 1967. Route 66, 1962, was her first significant role. Insight, The New Breed, The Twilight Zone, Stoney Burke, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Rawhide (a film based on Dean Martin's gunfighter character's wife in 1964), Bob Hope Presents The Fugitive, T.H.E. The Invaders, Cat, The Big Valley, Coronet Blue, and The Invaders. She appeared on four episodes of Dr. Kildare, and she was a member of the repertory cast that changed major and supporting roles on the critically acclaimed series The Richard Boone Show.
In addition, Devon appeared in five feature-length commercial films, including Rusty Sartori in Goodbye Charlie (1964), Julie Champlain in Chamber of Horrors (1967), and Edie Hart in Gunn (1967).
Singing career
Laura Devon released just one professional recording, a single, "I Like the Look" (A side)/"Dreamsville" (B side). Both songs were written by Henry Mancini and were included in Devon's last film, Gunn. She can be heard on the soundtrack to Mr. Sycamore's 1975 film "Time Goes By," written by her then husband, Maurice Jarre, and lyricist Paul Francis Webster, which can be found on her website.
