Lara Dutta (born 16 April 1978) is an Indian actor, model, and beauty queen who was named Miss Intercontinental 1997 and Miss Universe 2000.

Lara has principally worked in Hindi films throughout her career.

She has been shortlisted for numerous awards, including the Filmfare Award. Dutta made her debut with Andaaz (2003), which earned her the Best Female Debut award from the Filmfare Award.

Early life and education

In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, Dutta was born to a Hindu father and an Anglo-Indian mother. Wing Commander L. K. Dutta (retired), and her mother, Jennifer Dutta, are among her many others. Sabrina's elder sister and her younger sister Cheryl both served in the Indian Air Force. Nitin Sawhney, a music producer and DJ, is Dutta's cousin.

In 1981, the Dutta family moved to Bangalore, where she attended both St. Francis Xavier Girls' High School and the Frank Anthony Public School. She obtained a bachelor's degree in economics and a minor in communications from the University of Mumbai. She is fluent in English and Hindi and is also fluent in Punjabi and Kannada.

She signed up for Arasatchi, a Tamil film, in 2002, but it was only released in mid-2004 due to financial constraints. She made her Hindi debut with the film Andaaz, which was a box office hit, and she received the Best Female Debut Award from the Filmfare Institute in 2003. However, Dutta's voice was dubbed by Mona Shetty in the film because the filmmakers wanted two distinct characters for the female leads, and they wanted Kajal, Dutta's character, to have a high-pitched voice.
