Lalaine Vergara-Paras (born June 3, 1987), known mononymously as Lalaine, is an American actress, singer-songwriter, and bassist.
She is best known for her roles as Miranda Sanchez on Lizzie McGuire, Kate in Annie, and Abby Ramirez in You Wish!. After appearing in the roles of Young Cosette and Éponine in a Broadway musical production of Les Misérables as a child, Lalaine pursued a career in music.
She signed with Warner Bros.
Records following the end of Lizzie McGuire and released one studio album and one extended play, both of which saw little commercial success mostly due to only having a limited release.
Early life
Lalaine Vergara-Paras was born in Burbank, California, to Filipino parents. She has three older siblings. She spent most of her early years in Burbank and Sherman Oaks, California, then joined the Broadway National Touring cast of Les Misérables as Little Cosette. After the tour Lalaine and her mother resided in Sherman Oaks.
Career
Lalaine is usually credited by her first name only, but later this year she claimed that she did not use her surname because it seemed too "Hispanic/ethnic." When she was first cast in Les Misérables' Broadway production of Young Cosette and Eponine, she began acting. Lalaine made her film debut in 1999 as Theresa in Borderline. In the 1999 remake of Annie (1999 film), Lalaine co-starred with Alicia Morton as Kate. On November 7, 1999, Annie appeared on The Wonderful World of Disney. Miranda Sanchez, along with Hilary Duff, appeared on the Disney Channel in 2000 on the teen sitcom Lizzie McGuire. She left the show in early May 2002 to work on other projects, including the film You Wish! As a result, Lalaine missed the last six episodes of the series, which ended filming in late June 2002. In The Lizzie McGuire Film, Lalaine was also absent about 4–5 months after the show finished filming. Lalaine was on tour with Radio Disney at the time of the film as she is also a performer.

Lalaine's first album, Inside Story, was released in 2003. Lalaine's album features six songs, including "Life Is Wonderful," "Can't Stop" and "Save Myself." She toured Hawaii with Disney's Imagineers, appeared on Radio Disney, performed her songs in Southern California, and then moved to Hawaii with Disney's Imagineers.
She appeared on the last episode of All That in 2005. "I'm Not Your Girl" was released as a single in the following year and remade the song "Cruella DeVil" for the DisneyMania 3 and Disneyremixmania sets. She appeared on Annie's soundtrack in 1999. On the soundtrack for the Disney Channel Original Movie Pixel Perfect's 2004 Lalaine performed "If You Want A Rock" on the Disney Channel Original Movie Pixel Perfect.
