Lakshmi Menon (born 19 May 1996) is an Indian film actress, who mainly appears in Tamil films.

After making her acting debut in a supporting role in the Malayalam film Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya (2011), she played the female lead in her debut Tamil film Sundarapandian in 2012.

Sundarapandian, as well as her next three Tamil releases, were commercial successes and she was labelled as "the fastest rising star in Tamil cinema" by Sify.She received Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress for her roles in Sundarapandian and Kumki.

Early life

Lakshmi Menon was born to Malayali parents Ramakrishnan, a Dubai based artist, and Usha Menon, a dance teacher from Kochi.

Career

Vinayan, a Malaysian film director who appeared in Bharatanatyam's telecasting, casts her in his film Raghuvinte Raziya in 2011. When she appeared in the film, she was in her eighth grade. In another Malaysial film called 'Ideal Couple, directed by Ali Akbar, she appeared in the lead alongside Vineeth soon after. She appeared on the front page of a magazine when she first appeared in Malayalam cinema, and director Prabu Solomon, who played her in Kumki opposite Vikram Prabhu, caught her attention. Director Prabhakaran was given the lead role in Sundarapandian film M. Sasikumar, which was announced before Kumki and marking her Tamil debut. She was seen as a demure school teacher Malar in Suseenthiran's action-drama film Pandianadu, which co-starred Vishal after appearing in Sasikumar once more in Kutti Puli. Both her four Tamil films, which were released in a year, were box office hits.

In Naan Sigappu Manithan, she saw her partnering with Vishal for the second time. Manja Pye starred in two Tamil films, Manja Pye with Vimal and Jigarthanda with Siddharth in 2014. She and Gautham Karthik appeared in Sippai, and Komban had a hit the sets and earned her a following for her role as Palani ammal. Her movie Vedalam was released on November 10th, in which she played the role of sister for Ajith Kumar and was applauded by the critics for her role in the film. Miruthan, the first Tamil zombie film, was released on 19 February and received rave reviews, as well as Vijay Sethupathi in Rekka.

Pulikkuthi Pandi (2021), Lakshmi Menon's third film under M. Muthaiah's direction, will be released on big screens for the first time after four years.
