Kristian-Joy Alfonso (born September 5, 1963) is an American actress, former figure skater, and fashion model.

She is best known for her appearance on Hope Williams Brady, which she has played on the NBC dramatic series Days of Our Lives since 1983.

Early life

Kristian-Joy Alfonso was born on September 5, 1963, in Brockton, Massachusetts, United States. She is an Italian-American; her grandparents are from Sicily and Calabria. Kristian Alfonso was born to her parents Gino and Joanne. Lisa is Lisa's older sister.

Personal life

Alfonso was married to Simon Macauley from 1987 to 1991. They have a son who was born in 1990. Danny Daggenhurst was born in 2000 and married Danny Daggenhurst. Both the couple have two children.

Alfonso founded Hope Faith Miracles in November 2006 and a fashion line, Hope by Kristian Alfonso. She reported that the company had been purchased ten years ago and that she was no longer involved.

Career

She began her career as a figure skater and gold medalist at the Junior Olympic Figure Skating Championships. Alfonso began modeling at the age of 13. By the time she was 15, she had appeared in over 30 publications, including Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. In 1981, she was first seen on television playing opposite Rock Hudson in the television film The Starmaker.

Alfonso's career began in May 1983, when she landed the starring role of Hope Williams on the soap opera Days of Our Lives. Hope's character was developed in a popular pairing with Bo Brady (played by Peter Reckell). In 1985, she received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series.

Alfonso left in 1987, returning in 1990 for a short period and then full-time in 1994. The entire cast of Days of Our Lives had been suspended from service in November 2019. In February 2020, Alfonso returned to the soapbox. She had left the role of Hope five months earlier and would not be back when the soap returned to production after it was frozen due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.

Although she was a member of the show, she appeared in Season 6 of Friends as Hope in an episode titled "The One That Could Have Been, Part 1."

Pilar Ortega on Falcon Crest for the last two seasons after Alfonso left Days of Our Lives in April 1987. She appeared in the film Joshua Tree in 1993, in which she played a cop kidnapped by an innocent prisoner on the run.

The 60-year-old actress will step back into the shoes of her character Hope Brady to pay tribute to her on-screen father played by the late Bill Hayes.
