Kieron Mark Richardson (born 12 January 1986; Eccles, Greater Manchester) is an English actor and presenter.

He appears in Hollyoaks as Ste Hay and is also known for his role in Heartbeat as Ricky Smith. At the British Soap Awards in 2013, he received "Best Onscreen Partnership" with Hollyoaks co-star Emmett J. Scanlan.

Personal life

Richardson revealed on television station This Morning that he is gay and had accepted it at the age of 20 on September 15, 2010. Joe McElderry inspired him to come out. Richardson was abused on Twitter in July 2014 as a result of social media platform Twitter.

Richardson married Carl Hyland, his long-term partner, in the Peak District in April 2015. Richardson and his wife discovered twins by surrogacy in December 2016. In 2017, they had twins, both male and female.

Life and career

Richardson was born in Eccles, Greater Manchester. After appearing in Hollyoaks: In the City, he was given the role of Ste Hay in the main series Hollyoaks, where he first appeared in 19 episodes. Since stealing a car, causing a crash and his character being sent to prison, the actor was written out of the show. He returned to Hollyoaks on September 25, 2007 and has been a regular cast member ever since. Richardson has appeared in Holby City, Heartbeat, and the feature film Fragments, as well as the pantomime Cinderella as Prince Charming at The Embassy Theatre, Skegness, in 2006.

Richardson appeared in the 2010 series of ITV's Dancing on Ice and was paired with Brianne Delcourt. He made it to the final and ended in third place.

Richardson and his Hollyoaks ex co-star Bronagh Waugh began presenting on radio station Gaydio in 2011.

After 28 years, Bosses have pulled the plug on the soap being broadcast on its main channel, with the soap now being broadcast on E4 and YouTube.
