Kieffer Roberto Francisco Moore (born 8 August 1992) is a professional footballer who plays for Wigan Athletic and the Wales national team. Moore began his career with Truro City, having been a member of Torquay United's youth team and playing for Paignton Saints in South Devon League Division 2.

Moore joined Dorchester Town in February 2013 due to Truro's continuing financial struggles, and he finished his first season in the Conference South with 20 goals.

His goal-scoring record attracted the attention of Yeovil Town, where he first signed in July 2013. Moore was released and spent a brief time with Norwegian side Viking before returning to English football with Forest Green Rovers after more than 50 appearances for Yeovil.

Moore had a loan spell at Torquay United, where he scored five goals in four games, attracting the attention of Championship side Ipswich Town, who signed for the club in January 2017.

Kieffer Moore Career

Club career

Moore, a native of Torquay, Devon, began his football career with Torquay United's youth system until he was forced to stop the Devon club at the age of 12. Moore spent 43 games for Paignton Saints in the South Devon League Division Two, where he scored 47 goals in 42 games in two seasons before returning to Conference South to Truro City in July 2012. In a 2–1 loss to Billericay Town on August 18, 2012, he made his Truro City debut. Moore scored his first goal for Truro in a 1–1 draw against Conference South leader Lee Hodges, and his second victory in three days as he snuckled away a free-kick from player-manager Lee Hodges, assisting Truro in their first victory of the season. Moore scored seven goals in seven games in January and early February 2013, but it was revealed that Moore would join Dorchester Town, a Conference South club. Moore left Truro City after scoring 13 times in 24 appearances for the Cornish club, but his manager Hodges described his dismissal as "a huge loss" and that it "came out of the blue" that he departed "from the blue."

Moore joined Dorchester Town on an 18-month contract on February 11, 2013 and made his debut against Bath City the following day. In a 2–1 loss against Basingstoke Town, Moore scored his first goal for Dorchester in the following match with a consolation goal. Moore returned from Dorchester to Truro City on February 19th, tying his goal scoring total to three goals in his first three matches for Dorchester. Moore's 18th and 19th goals of the season were unveiled during Dorchester's 3–2 victory over AFC Hornchurch, two audacious goals first, followed by the feat with his left foot to place his team as the late winner. Moore was limited to 13 appearances for Dorchester due to a thigh injury, but he did still have 20 goals for the season, finishing as the Conference South's fourth top scorer. Moore's appearances for Dorchester were enough for football League team Charlton Athletic to refuse him a trial in May 2013.

He combined his non-league service with teaching Truro and Dorchester as a lifeguard and personal trainer.

Moore joined Yeovil Town, a newly promoted Football League Championship club, in late June 2013 for their pre-season. Dorchester Town reported on July 6th that they had reached an agreement with Yeovil Town for the transfer of Moore for a "undisclosed fee," but that Moore was yet to sign personal terms or have a medical with the club. Moore then signed a two-year deal with Yeovil on July 10, 2013. Moore made his Yeovil debut as an 82nd-minute replacement in their Football League Cup first round victory over Southend United on Sunday. Moore made his Football League Championship debut for Yeovil against Sheffield Wednesday as an injury time replacement. In a 4–0 victory over Leyton Orient, Moore scored his first senior goal for Yeovil in the FA Cup third round on January 4, 2014. Moore's first season in the Championship came to an end early with a calf injury, affecting Yeovil's final three games despite failing to prevent relegation back to Football League One. In his first season, he made 24 appearances for Yeovil, scoring five times, making him the club's joint third top goalscorer.

Following Yeovil's relegation to League Two, Moore was released by the 2014-15 season.

Moore joined Viking, a Norwegian Tippeligaen club, on a one-year deal on August 3rd.

Moore returned to England and spent time on trial with League Two clubs Exeter City and Leyton Orient, after being made available for transfer. Moore signed for Forest Green Rovers in National League until June 2017. In a 1–0 home win over Braintree Town on Sunday, he made his club debut on January 23rd, while playing as a central defender. In a 2–2 away draw at Barrow on February 27, 2016, his first goal for the club came in a 2–2 away draw. He aided Forest Green in making it to the National League play-offs after finishing second in the division and then appeared as a replacement against Dover Athletic in the play-off semi-finals at Wembley Stadium, putting on an excellent showing that helped the club advance to the play-off finals. Since rupturing his appendix the night before the semi-final second leg, he was denied a spot in the play-off final defeat to Grimsby Town.

Moore joined Torquay United in a 28-day loan contract on November 17, 2016. On his debut in a home 1–1 draw against Wrexham, he scored an 88th-minute equalizer on his debut. In a 3–0 win over Solihull Moors, he scored his first hat-trick in his second appearance.

Moore signed for Ipswich Town, a Championship club, for £10,000 on an 18-month deal. In a 0–2 away loss to Huddersfield Town on January 21, he made his debut for the club on January 21, 2017, as a second-half substitute. During his first season at Portman Road, he made 11 substitute appearances.

Moore joined Rotherham United on loan until the end of the season on July 10th. In a 5–0 victory over Southend United, he scored a hat-trick on his home debut. Moore then scored a brace against Bury in a 3–2 home victory, putting him on 6 goals in six league appearances. Moore played his 11th goal of the season away at Oxford on October 21 to fall back as the league's top scorer. In a 1–3 loss to Gillingham, he scored his 12th league goal of the season. Moore's 13th goal of the season came as a result of a 96th-minute equalizer against Doncaster Rovers, who defeated Rotherham rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Moore joined Barnsley in the Championship for an undisclosed fee until 2021. In a 2–1 loss to Burton Albion on February 20, 2018, Moore scored his first goal for Barnsley.

Moore established himself as the Tykes' first choice striker in his second season with Barnsley, appearing in 31 games and scoring 17 goals. Barnsley defeated Rochdale 4–0 away on Monday, Moore's first hat-trick. Moore scored both goals in Barnsley's 2–1 victory over Gillingham on September 1, 2018, putting him on six goals in six games this season. In a 4–2 loss, he scored another brace against Sunderland on November 27, 2018. Moore was injured in an aerial collision with Gillingham defender Gabriel Zakuani on February 9, 2019 that resulted in Moore's suspension for ten minutes and then admitted to the hospital. It was announced on February 28, 2019 that he would miss the remainder of the season due to a serious head injury, but he returned against Shrewsbury Town on April 19. Moore was one of five Barnsley players to be named in the PFA Team of the Year for League One on April 24.

Moore agreed to a three-year contract with Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee on August 5, 2019. In a 2–1 loss to Swansea City, he scored his first goal for Wigan, a penalty. Moore was nominated for the month's Championship goal after his win over Reading in February 2020.

Wigan defeated Hull City 8–0 on July 14, 2020, Moore scored twice; the result was Wigan's biggest win in club history. Despite Moore's efforts, Wigan were relegated from the Championship due to a points deduction.

Moore also signed for Cardiff City in the Championship for an undisclosed fee on August 13, 2020. In his second appearance, he scored his first goals for the club on September 19th, netting a brace against Nottingham Forest in a 2–0 victory. Moore received the PFA Player of the Month award for February 2021 after a string of five goals in seven games.

Moore signed for AFC Bournemouth, a Championship team, on 31 January 2022, for an undisclosed fee estimated to be worth up to £5 million. Moore was recalled on for his debut in the final minutes of the 3–1 victory over Birmingham City on February 9th, but he sustained a fractured foot. He missed two months of action and made his second appearance against Swansea City on April 26 2022. Moore scored twice to earn a draw after the Cherries lost 3–0 on his replacement. Bournemouth's promotion to the Premier League came a week after he scored the match-winning goal against Nottingham Forest. In the final day victory over Millwall, he scored a second goal to make it four goals in just 83 minutes of action for AFC Bournemouth this season.

Moore scored his first Premier League goal in the 80th minute on August 6th, making his Premier League debut in a 2–0 victory over Aston Villa. He scored twice against Tottenham Hotspur on October 29th, putting the team up 2–0 ahead of the game until Tottenham Hotspur beat 3–2.

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna admits it will be a 'great challenge' to go toe-to-toe with the 'best' after sealing 'incredible' Premier League promotion

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 5, 2024
JOE BERNSTEIN AT PORTMAN ROAD: Kieran McKenna will be the Premier League's youngest manager next season but he has crammed plenty of experience into his relatively short career. It was Jose Mourinho who first gave McKenna the chance to move from academy coaching into the first-team set-up at Manchester United. McKenna has his mentor's self-confidence but the playing style is different. Ipswich are adventurous and swashbuckling, and it has brought remarkable success at Portman Road.

Ipswich are back in the Premier League! Kieran McKenna's side return to the top flight for the first time in 22 years after 2-0 win over Huddersfield sealed back-to-back promotions

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 4, 2024
Ipswich Town have been promoted back to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years after a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town. Kieran McKenna's side have enjoyed a fantastic season after emerging as the early favourites to go up under his leadership - despite only just moving up from League One last year - and they've battled all the way to seal their place in the top flight on the final day. The Tractor Boys only needed a point against the Terriers in their last Championship game and they got the job done with a routine victory, though Leeds United's 2-1 loss against Southampton meant they would have gone up anyway.

Their swagger and style has the town buzzing and this weekend they can return to the top flight for the first time since 2002 - How magic Kieran McKenna pulled off the Ipswich revolution

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 3, 2024
Kieran McKenna began his coaching journey on crutches. He was aged just 22, and coming to terms with the premature end of his playing career after a second major hip operation when Tottenham academy bosses invited him to join them. Just for a taste of it. To see if he liked the idea. Turned out he liked it a lot. Turned out he was pretty good at it, too, just as those who extended the invitation knew he would be, and McKenna set about plotting a route to the top. The early steps involved a sports science degree at Loughborough University, coaching the students in non-League and Nottingham Forest 's Under 9s in the evenings and spending summers coaching in North America. Now, 15 years on, McKenna is one point from back-to-back promotions with Ipswich Town, on the brink of becoming a Premier League manager, taking his club back to the top flight after a 22-year exile. Over the past two seasons, no team in the top four divisions of English football has accumulated more points (191) or scored more goals (191) than Ipswich. Only Manchester City and Arsenal have a better points per game ratio.
