Career

Carlson was born in Bloomington, Minnesota, and attended the Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, Minnesota. In addition to her acting work, she has also modeled, including the advertisement campaigns for Miller Lite, Rembrandt, and Oliver Peoples sunglasses. She appeared in Maxim Magazine in August 2004 and on the front page of Stuff Magazine's October 2004 issue.

Carlson is the spokesperson for Smile Network International, a Minnesota-based humanitarian group that provides reconstructive surgeries and related health care services to impoverished children and young adults in developing countries. Carlson, an enthusiastic equestrian since age seven, has lobbied legislation to prohibit both human transport of American horses to slaughterhouses in Mexico and Canada, as well as roundups of wild horses by government officials in January 2010.

Carlson began performing in theaters, Cheaters, Girls Guide to Chaos, Charlotte's Web, and Can't Trust the Mate. Carlson appeared on Tear Sheet Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful list in 2001 and later appeared in the film 3000 Miles to Graceland as an extra. In 2003, she secured a guest appearance in the FX drama series Nip/Tuck's pilot episode. Kimber Henry's character quickly became famous with audiences, appearing in numerous episodes of the first and second seasons, before she became a regular in the show's third season. She stayed with the series until it was finished in March 2010.

She has appeared in several films outside of Nip/Tuck, including Paparazzi (2004), The Marine (2006), the direct-to-video sequel Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004), and a supporting role in the comedy film Made of Honor (2008) starring Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan. She has also appeared on Everwood, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, Monk, and The Finder. She was also ranked #43 on Maxim magazine's Hot 100 of 2005 list, and she ranked at #94 on their Hot 100 of 2007 list.

She appeared in the 2007 film Dead of Winter (later renamed Killer Film), but she was later replaced by former Pussycat Doll turned actress Cyia Batten before filming began due to artistic inconsistencies with the director. Carlson stepped into a regular role on The CW sequel to Melrose Place in 2009, portraying a Hollywood madam after completing work on the final episodes of Nip/Tuck. In addition, she appeared in Degrassi Goes Hollywood, a 2009 Canadian television film. She was last seen in Ghostfacers, an online spin-off of The CW's dark fantasy series Supernatural's.
