She began as a support singer for Mari Wilson and Kim Wilde in the early 1980s, under the name "Jules Fordham," before settling on a recording deal of her own later this decade.

Career

Julia Fordham, Fordham's first album on Circa Records in 1988, was simply called Julia Fordham. It was No. 1 after a series of media, including an appearance on the BBC1 Wogan chat show in April 1988. In the UK Albums Chart, 20th in the UK Albums Chart, with a gold disc following it. The album includes the top 40 single "Happy Ever After" (which peaked at No. 2). (August 1988) had 27 people in August. The album also charted in the United States, peaking at No. 1. The Billboard 200 chart shows 118.

In 1989, Fordham's second album, Porcelain, was released. At No. 1, the album debuted at No. 1. The British Phonographic Industry awarded 13 and 13 medals to the 13 youngsters. It was Fordham's first album to chart on the US top 100, debuting at No. 61. 74 years old.

Fordham's third album, Swept, was released in late 1991. The album debuted at No. 1 on the charts. "Love Moves In) Mysterious Ways," the top 40 hit in the United Kingdom and topped the top 40 hits "Love Moves In"), which peaked at No. 33. 19 was born in early 1992 and was also featured in the 1991 film The Butcher's Wife.

Falling Forward, Fordham's fourth album, was released in 1994. The album debuted at No. 81. In the United Kingdom, 21 people have died. Larry Klein, who has collaborated with many artists, including Joni Mitchell (his ex wife) and Fordham on Falling Forward, was behind the album. The resignation was postponed after a corporate reshuffle caused her name to be canceled and her deal came to an end. The album eventually appeared on Vanguard Records and a variety of other international labels, including Sanctuary Records in the United Kingdom. The title track was re-recorded as a duet with India Arie, as well as different cover artwork. "Wake Up With You" was also released in remixes. Fordham is embarking on a journey of acoustic club tour in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

That's Life, Fordham's seventh album, was released on her 42nd birthday in 2004. She appeared at more live shows in Japan, which included a lengthy run of shows at the Blue Note venues. That's Live, a live album and DVD (filmed in Los Angeles with guest appearances by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter India Arie, trumpeter Mark Isham, and Judith Owen) was released in January 2005. This was backed by two tracks written and recorded with Aadesh Shrivastava. The single was then released to download and made available on CD. The funds from the record's auctions aided in the construction of a school in Cuddalore, India. Fordham's debut in West Sussex, the United Kingdom, brought the band full circle to where she first started writing and performing songs in local folk clubs as a youth.

Fordham released Baby Love, an EP in 2006, through AWAL (Artists Without A Label). The EP is a collection of songs influenced by Marley Rose's birth. Fordham appeared in a music video for Judith Owen's "Here" in 2006, as the mother of Owen's child. Jamie Lee Curtis, an actress, produced the video.

Fordham appeared on Judith Owen's album Happy This Way in 2007 as the guest vocalist on a track named "Carry." Owen and Fordham are best friends, and they have performed together and been a guest on stage at each other's shows.

The compilation album Songbook was released by EMI in September 2007. It was a Philippines-only launch, and it included older studio recordings as well as live cuts and rare tracks. Fordham had completed a new album that was to be released by NovaTunes, a "start-up" company. In late January 2008, China Blue was released as a download-only album.

Fordham produced the album Unusual Suspects in 2010, a collaboration between comedian, actor, and pianist Paul Reiser. Since being announced, the two musicians embarked on an acoustic tour.

In 2013, Cherry Red Records reissued Fordham's second album, 1989's Porcelain, and its 1991 sequel, Swept, were both reissued as two-CD deluxe editions. Julia Fordham's debut album in 2016 was followed by upgraded versions of the first album, and Falling Forward in 2017. All of her re-releases include B-sides, rarities, and annotations.

Fordham was scheduled to perform 15 concerts around the United Kingdom in mid-2013. On June 20, she began in Worcester and ended in her hometown of Portsmouth on July 13th. Fordham was joined on stage by Judith Owen during the tour, and the pair performed a duet by Owen titled "That Scares Me" from Owen's album The Beautiful Damage Collection. When Fordham performed her chart hit "Happy Ever After" (UK No. 2) Owen performed one of her own songs and provided the on stage harmonies and backing vocals. (27).

Michael Ball's "Skipping Under the Rainbow" was on his Sunday night radio show on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday night. Ball appeared on stage at Bush Hall in London on July 4th, 2013 and they did a duet of Fordham's hit "Where Does the Time Goes?" (No. No.) The United Kingdom has no such information. 41.

On Sunday's show on BBC Radio 2 in London, Fordham appeared on the Richard Madeley Show, which aired on BBC Radio 2 on July 7, 2013. She performed two songs live on the program, including her single "Skipping Under the Rainbow," with Grant Mitchell accompanying on piano.

Fordham paid a spirited tribute to Nelson Mandela in the form of a video set to Fordham's hit "Happy Ever After" shortly after completing her UK tour (UK No. 2). (27). This is the single that was inspired by Mandela's struggle through the apartheid years, his detention, and presidential years.

Bury St Edmunds, Glasgow, Selby, and Stockton-on-Tees spent the summer of 2014 in the studio recording tracks for a new album.

Fordham returned to the United Kingdom in November 2014 to commemorate her album Porcelain's 25th anniversary. She performed the album in its entirety, as did her long-time pianist and album producer Grant Mitchell. The Porcelain 25 tour featured performances at Cadogan Hall, The Sage in Gateshead, and the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool, before concluding at the Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne. In Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Tokyo, followed by Osaka in Japan.

Woman to Woman, a tour with fellow singers Judie Tzuke and Beverley Craven, began in 2018, and it was postponed until 2019, due to Craven's breast cancer treatment. An album of the same name was also released to coincide with the tour, debuting at No. 1 on the charts. The UK Albums Chart ranks 42nd in the UK Albums Chart.

Magic, written for and dedicated to her daughter Marley, Fordham's ninth album, was released in 2019.
