A former Cooperative Bank chairman has been charged with dishonesty. On Wednesday, Paul Flowers, the bank's non-executive chairman from 2009 to 2013, will appear in Manchester magistrates' court. Flowers was charged with one count of misconduct by abuse of position, which was reportedly committed between June 2016 and October 2017.

Barclays has been a lightning rod for regulatory failures in its search for investment banking. And successive chairmen have found it impossible to establish the chief executive position for a variety of reasons. Regulving Barclays' door is a common feature. If honour still exists, the chairman and non-executives at Barclays should consider whether they will continue to be involved in this morally reprehensible saga much longer.
