Joel Creasey Career

Stand-up career

When he was fifteen years old, Creasey attempted stand-up comedy for the first time. When Creasey was seventeen, he participated in Raw Comedy, a national stand-up competition, and he made it to the state finals in Perth. Creasey made his Melbourne International Comedy Festival debut in 2010 with a performance titled Slumber Party at the Kitten Club. At the conclusion of the festival, Creasey was nominated for Best Newcomer, and Andrew Taylor Management was hired. Creasey opened Political Animal, his second show at various comedy festivals in 2011. Creasey's third film, Naked, attracted a lot of media attention and favorable reviews. This was followed by the Drama Captain in 2013, which saw Creasey sell out 23 shows in Melbourne and receive Best Show nominations at both the Sydney and Perth Comedy Festivals.

He began touring in 2014 with his fifth festival performance, Rock God, which attracted significant media coverage and a sold-out national tour. During this period, Creasey was referred to as "Australia's Acid Tongue Prince" in the media. With the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Creasey brought the show to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Hong Kong. He appeared at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal, Canada, later in the week, before presenting Rock God at the Fringe Festival in New York City. Creasey also performed Rock God to the Soho Theatre in London. Joan Rivers, after seeing his performance, invited him to open for her in New York in August 2014.

Rock God was named one of the top five events of the New York Fringe Festival by the New York Post. "The side-splittingly funny 70-minute performance of stand-up that moves at a frantic pace of many laughs per minute" is a phrase that is "the relentlessly funny 23-year-old has the chops of a much more seasoned actor as well as the charisma of an inevitable celebrity," Time Out wrote of it. "He's a dependable storyteller, energetic, concise, but conversational," the Sydney Morning Herald said, with a ruthless wit and an infectious oh-my-god enthusiasm.

In late 2014, it was announced that Creasey had been chosen to host the 2015 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala. In early 2015, it was announced that the Hurricane would be Creasey's sixth festival exhibition, which was later seen both nationally and internationally.

He was named one of two Fringe Ambassadors for the Adelaide Fringe in 2018 and unveiled his exhibit Blonde Bombshell. In 2019, Creasey's Just for Laughs video was shot and released as part of a Netflix stand-up comedy collection.
