Jill Townsend Career

Life and career

Townsend was born in Santa Monica, California. Up the Company's father, Robert Townsend, a former Avis executive, wrote the bestseller Up the Company. Her mother was the niece of Frank Tours, a well-known English born musician and conductor whose resume includes an appearance with Irving Berlin.

Jill, a debutante, graduated from The Master's School in Dobbs Ferry, New York, in 1963. She then migrated to England, where she had been accepted into The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts at the time.

She fell in love with Williamson in John Osborne's 1965 London stage play Inadmissible Evidence, and lived with him for 21 months. However, she briefly broke with him as a result of his tumultuous personality, at which time she married actor Tom Sutton (68-69). Williamson reunited her with him after her brief marriage. They were married from 1971 to 1977. Luke Williamson was born in 1973, but she and Nicol Williamson parted for a short time after Townsend began a relationship with Alan Price, her co-star in Alfie Darling.

Townsend began acting in 1985. She studied at the London School of Journalism and spent time as a reporter for the Daily Mail, contributing to a page for the financial section. In 1989, she returned to the United States.

She served as a curriculum coach and facilitator at Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California, as well as several others schools from 1989 to 1995.

She was on the Board of Directors at Leadership Directories, Inc., from 1993 to 2004, but she is no longer serving.

She is currently married to Bob Sorel, who she wed in 1993.

The remakes of British TV classics that are BETTER than the originals and where to watch them on streaming (and the shows that were better first time around)

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 7, 2024
Magic formulas must exist for successful TV shows, but actors and writers have yet to find a foolproof spell. Instead, they keep falling back on the classics, remaking favourite shows in the hopes that lightning will strike twice. Here we examine eight classics and compare them to their remakes - some are better than the original, some are more popular but equally good, and at least one of them is a horrible clunker.
