[batist s]: Jean-Baptiste Say (French: 5 January 1767-29) was a liberal French economist and businessman who argued in favour of free trade and lowering barriers on business. Say's law, also known as the law of markets, is the product of markets, which he popularized. Scholars disagree on the surprisingly subtle issue of whether it was Say who first announced What is now called Say's law. In addition, he was one of the first economists to investigate entrepreneurship and conceptualized entrepreneurs as strategists and leaders of the economy.

Early life

According to the legend, he was born in Lyon. Jean-Etienne Says was born to a Protestant family that had migrated from Nîmes to Geneva for a time as a result of Nantes's revocation of the Edict of Nantes. According to claim, he was supposed to work in industry, and he and his brother Horace were sent in 1785 to complete his education in England. He stayed in Croydon and then in Fulham after a return trip to France. During the latter decade, he was employed by two London-based sugar merchant companies, James Baillie & Co and William Hibbert. He joined Samuel Hibbert on a trip to France at the end of 1786, which culminated in Hibbert's death in Nantes in December. Says back to Paris, where he worked in the office of a life assurance firm run by Étienne Clavière. Louis Auguste (1774–1840) was also an economist.

Personal life

Mlle Deloche, the daughter of a former prosecutor, married Say in 1793.
