Jay Jay French Segall (born John French Segall, 1952) is an American guitarist, producer, and arranger. French is a founding member and one of the Twisted Sisters' guitarists.
French has appeared in more than 9000 concert performances since his debut with Twisted Sister.

Early life and education
French was born in New York City as the younger of two sons to father Lou Segall, a jewelry salesman, and mother Evaline French Segall, a Democratic Party political consultant who worked with John F. Kennedy in New York, was born. Constance Baker Motley, the first African American woman elected to the New York State Senate, ran successfully during his mother's campaign. Jeff Segall and his brother Jeffrey Segall grew up in Manhattan.
In 1963, the folk band The Weavers at Carnegie Hall planted the seeds for French's musical life.
He was a veteran of Vietnam and a civil rights campaigner. He attended the Shaker Village summer program in 1967, becoming a bunkmate of Ben Chaney, the brother of James Chaney, one of the three murdered civil rights activists who died on a voter registration drive in Mississippi in 1964. Personal life
Jodie Glickman, the French girl, appeared in the chorus on Twisted Sister's Live at Wacken: The Reunion album of the band's first wife and is the sibling of band bass player Mark Mendoza. French and his third wife Sharon Gitelle, who married in Las Vegas in 2016 after a 13-year courtship, resided on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
French, an avid runner, has competed in and completed two New York Marathons since 1981 and 1986.
Career
In 1972, French singer Wicked Lester appeared in an early version of Wicked Lester starring Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.
He joined the New Jersey-based glitter band Silverstar, which changed its name in 1973 to Twisted Sister. Michael Valentine (vocals), Billy Diamond (guitar), Kenneth Harrison Neill (bass), and Mell Star (drums).
Rick Prince on vocals and Keith Angel on guitars were hired by the French National Guard in 1975. The French took over the vocals shortly after.
Eddie Ojeda replaced Keith Angel on guitars, and Daniel Dee Snider joined the band in February 1976 to ban French from his vocalist duties. Tony Petri (drums, December 1976), Mark Mendoza (drums, December 1978), Joey Brighton (drums, 1985), and Joey "Seven" Franco (drums, 1987).

Twisted Sister regained control of its music with the advent of iTunes and other online music stores.

Since the bulk of their classic lineups were no longer present, French reports that Judas Priest and Foreigner's current iterations were cover bands in 2018. French claims he appeared in more than 9,000 concert appearances around the world during his time with Twisted Sister.
Samantha, the French mother, was diagnosed with uveitis, a condition of the eye, at age 6. The Pinkburst Project, a French charity established in 2010 in order to raise money and awareness, was launched in 2010. The campaign resulted in the creation of 14 pink custom-made guitars by Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, and Martin.
The guitars were auctioned off at a benefit concert, "The Pinkburst Project: An Evening with Twisted Sister." More than $110,000 was raised for the Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Foundation in the United States for study, education, and assistance for people affected by Uveitis and other inflammatory eye diseases.
