Jaya Ahsan (née Maswood; born 1 July) is a Bangladeshi actress and producer.

She began her career as a model and then as a television actress, but she now works mainly in Bangladeshi and Indian Bengali films.

She received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress four times for her appearance in the films Guerrilla (2011), Chorabali (2012), Zero Degree (2015), and Debi (2018) as well as other national and international awards.

Early life

Ahsan was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, to A. S. Maswood (d.2012) and Rehana Maswood. She has a younger sister and a brother who are both younger. She completed a diploma course in Rabindra Sangeet as well as classical music training. She first appeared on television when she appeared in Panchami's teledrama. She modeled for a calendar that caught Afzal Hossain's eye and later offered her services on a Coca-Cola commercial. She stopped modeling and kept with her studies afterward. She worked with Bhorer Kagoj, a national daily newspaper. She returned to modelling after a brief stint at a children's school. In 1997, Ahsan first appeared on television in a Coca-Cola commercial. She debuted her acting career on television with the drama Panchomi, written by Shahidul Haque Khan.

Ahsan began her modeling career in the late 1990s and has since appeared in numerous television dramas and serials.
