He played over 150 appearances and scored 59 goals, including winning two Premier League titles and the 2011 UEFA Champions League Final, as well as setting the highest minutes-per-goal ratio (130.2) in league history during his five years with United. Hernández left the club on loan to Real Madrid in 2014, and on 2015, he joined Bayer Leverkusen on a long-term contract. Hernández returned to England and signed for West Ham United two years ago. He signed for Sevilla in 2019 before joining LA Galaxy the following year.

Hernández, a Mexican national, is the country's all-time top goalscorer. In a friendly match against Colombia in September 2009, he made his national team debut against Colombia. He has played for Mexico at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2011 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2013 FIFA World Cup, the Copa América Centenary Cup, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. With seven goals, he was dubbed the tournament's best scorer.

Early life

Hernández was born in Guadala, Jalisco, and first played in a recreation league when he was seven years old. Hernández was a student at the University of Morelia, Michoacán for more than four years while his father, footballer Javier "Chro" Hernández, played for Monarcas Morelia. Hernández, a Morelia boy, attended elementary school at Instituto Piaget, where he went from third to sixth grade and competed for the school's football team.

Hernández immigrated to C.D. at the age of nine. Guadalajara started his first professional employment when he was 15 years old. He was supposed to compete in the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship, but an injury kept him out of the squad that eventually won the championship. Hernández was also taking business administration classes at Universidad del Valle de Atemajac while playing football professionally. Hugo Sánchez and Rafael Márquez have been herman's football idols since his youth.

Personal life

Hernández is the son of Javier Hernández Gutiérrez, who competed for three clubs in Mexico and was a member of the Mexico squad at the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Hernández Gutiérrez resigned as the head of Guadala's reserve team in order to watch Hernández play in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Hernández is also the grandson of Tomás Balcázar, who also competed for Guadalajara and captained the national team in the 1954 FIFA World Cup.

Hernández became the Mexican ambassador for UNICEF on May 26, making him the third Mexican to hold this position after César Costa and Julieta Venegas in 2004 and 2009. As Ambassador, he will participate in a variety of activities to encourage children and teens to avoid abandoning their education. He was honored in a news conference, where he said he felt "proud and committed."

Hernández is commonly referred to as Chicharito, which means little pea in Spanish, and he wears the word on his jacket. This is due to his father, Javier Hernández Gutiérrez, being dubbed Chcharo (pea) because of his green eyes.
