Jamie Denbo (born July 24, 1973) is an American actress, writer, and comedian best known as a member of the comedy team Ronna and Beverly with Jessica Chaffin.
She is also known for co-starring in Terriers and appearing in Spy, The Heat, and Ghostbusters (2016).
Early life
Denbo was born and raised in Swampscott, Massachusetts, and was raised there. She is the only child in the world. Her mother is from Montreal and her father is from New Jersey near Philadelphia; both parents are raised in Orthodox Jewish families. From kindergarten to sixth grade, Denbo attended a Jewish day school. Several of her summers spent at Camp Tel Noar in Hampstead, New Hampshire, where she appeared in several other plays as Wendy.
Denbo studied at Boston University, where she performed in improvisational comedy.
Personal life
Denbo is married to comedian and actor John Ross Bowie. They have a daughter, Nola, and Walter, who has a son.
Career
Denbo performed comedy at Disney World's Pleasure Island in Orlando, Florida, early in her career. She landed in New York City where she first appeared at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCB), now at the UCB's Los Angeles division, frequently with her husband John Ross Bowie and her comedy partner Jessica Chaffin. There are also classes taught there. In Montreal and Aspen Comedy Festival, she performed stand-up comedy for Just for Laughs. After being successful as supporting characters in the comedy film The Heat, She and Chaffin were supposed to appear in a comedy film.
Denbo appeared in the role of Tina Difabio on the sitcom Happy Hour. Susan Jones appeared on the Goodnight Burbank video podcast as Susan Jones. She returned as co-anchor on the program on August 5, 2007. Ronna & Beverly (based on the famous stage show she appears with Jessica Chaffin at the UCB) appeared on the Showtime network in December 2009 as a comedy special. Denbo and Chaffin launched the Ronna and Beverly comedy podcast in 2011, where they interview different celebrities every week.
