Susan Keats, Brandon Walsh's mother, appeared on Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1995, Caulfield's first notable appearance was as Brandon Walsh's girlfriend. She appeared in thirty episodes in the series before dropping in 1996. Anya Jenkins appeared on the WB's hit show Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1998, her most well-known role to date. Her character was only going to appear in two episodes at first. Nonetheless, audiences responded well to Anya, leading to Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon's addition to the main cast. Caulfield appeared in the horror film Darkness Falls, which debuted at number one in the United States box office in 2003. Meredith Preminger appeared in the episode "Mr. Monk and the Girl Who Cried Wolf" on Monk in 2004.
Caulfield was also involved in the satire Bandwagon, playing a fictionalized version of herself. Close friend and fellow actor Karri Bowman wrote and directed the film.
