In recent years, the issue of transgender people competing in female sporting events has grown more controversial. If they transitioned after male puberty, sports such as rugby, athletics, swimming, and cycling have barred them from participating in women's events or games. It comes after half of the team selected at the Home Nations shore fishing championship earlier this year dropped out in protest over Becky Lee Birtwhistle Hodges' selection (pictured left and circled in right image), who was born male.
