Jacob Mark "Jake" Pitts (born August 21, 1985) is an American singer and record producer best known as the lead guitarist of the rock band Black Veil Brides.
Personal life
Pitts wrote "Carolyn" about his mother as she was going through a period of illness. Carolyn Burke, his mother, died on January 18, 2014. He later said that his death scared him and pushed him to reconsider his health, which is why he started working out and eating healthier. Pitts also founded Get Mean Fitness with his buddy Matt Yani.
On February 3, 2017, Pitts married Cory Logvin.
Musical career
Pitts started playing guitar when he was 10 years old, but he took it down and didn't play it again until he was 13. He began listening to Metallica around this time because he wanted to recreate their sound. Jake has only been taking lessons for about four months. He decides to learn on his own after this period. He learned music and harmony theory from his mother, Carolyn, who was a classical pianist and composer. Pitts is also influenced musically by rock and heavy metal artists like Van Halen, Scorpions, Paul Gilbert, Buckethead, Randy Rhoads, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Armored Saint, Dio, Manowar, Cannibal Corpse, Mötley Crüe, and Metallica.
Pitts played lead guitar in the bands "The Perfect Victim and 80 Proof Riot" before joining Black Veil Brides. He is a licensed recording engineer and attended Los Angeles Recording School in 2006. Along with their fifth film Vale, he co-produced John Feldmann's fourth Black Veil Brides record and their fifth one.
He and his partner, Cory, are currently working on Aelonia, a new band. He has appeared in other bands, including New Years Day.
