Ellen Irlene Mandrell (born January 29, 1956) is an American singer, actress, and model.

Barbara and Louise Mandrell, Barbara and Louise Mandrell's younger sister, are among country singers in the younger section. Irlene Mandrell first rose to fame as a model for CoverGirl, and then gained national recognition as she appeared on the highly regarded Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters television variety show from 1980–1982.

She appeared on Hee Haw Honeys shortly after the show's cancellation, and she spent a long time as one of the "Hee Haw Honeys" cast members. She appeared on two episodes of The Love Boat and has worked as a corporate spokesperson for a variety of industries.

She has also participated in auto racing. Mandrell has hosted the annual Irlene Mandrell Celebrity Shoot to raise funds for Wish Upon a Star, Inc. since the 1990s.

Early life

Ellen Irlene Mandrell was born on January 29, 1956, to Mary Ellen (née McGill; born 1931) and Irby Matthew Mandrell (October 11, 1924 – March 5, 2009) in Corpus Christi, Texas. Barbara is older by seven years; Louise by a year and a half. Mary, Irlene's mother, was a homemaker and singer hailing from rural Wayne County, Illinois. Irby's father, a World War II naval veteran and Texas police officer from Garland County, Arkansas, was killed. Irby Mandrell was a natural performer and entrepreneur as well. He supervised all three of his daughters' careers for more than three decades due to his extraordinary social skills and in-depth knowledge of the music industry.

Mandrell's early life began much like her older sisters'. Her family was always musical; her parents came from a musical background. She played the drums as one of Barbara's first members, The Do Rites, and she is one of the first commercially influential female drummers. She also played vibraphone and mandolin.

Personal life

Mandrell was married to Ric Boyer, whom she divorced in 1992. They have two children. In 1994, she married Rob Pincus, with whom she has one child. In 2004, they were divorced. She married musician Patrick Holt in 2015.

She is a natural hunter. She has extensively explored North America (in the United States and Mexico) and has taken hunting trips to South America and Africa. Mandrell is an expert at handgun, shotgun, rifle, and crossbow. She competes in a number of sporting events, including as a race car racer. Wish Upon A Star and the Boy Scouts raises a considerable amount of money for Wish Upon A Star.

On the highly rated Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters TV variety show, she appeared from 1980-1982 with her siblings. Mandrell received two awards for Comedian of the Year from Music City News and then pursued film, television, and video. Her many followers followed her as she joined Hee Haw's cast, where she spent eight years as one of the "Hee Haw Honeys." Irlene has appeared on other television shows, including The Love Boat, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, The Mike Douglas Show, and several others. She co-hosted Bright Lights & Country Nights and This Week in Country Music, as well as televised benefits starring George Lindsey, Bob Hope, and Sammy Davis Jr. Mandrell has worked with several businesses, including Cover Girl shoes, Lanne Skin Care, and 9West Shoes.

On NBC from 1980 to 1982, Irlene and her siblings Louise and Barbara co-starred in the top-rated Barbara Mandrell Sisters television variety show on NBC. The show attracted 40 million viewers per week and was the last popular American primetime television variety show. Irlene was a member of the Hee Haw cast from 1983 to 1991. In 1981 and 1982, she appeared on Password Plus as a celebrity panelist.
