Early life and education
Ini Edo, an Ibibio from Akwa Ibom state, is located in Nigeria's south-south region, not far from Calabar. Her mother was a school teacher and her father was a church elder. Ini Edo's second child, three girls, and one boy was very young. She attended Cornelia Connely College in Uyo, Nigeria. She earned her diploma in Theatre Arts from the University of Uyo. She completed her bachelor's degree program at the University of Calabar, where she studied English. She was awarded a scholarship to study law at Nigeria's National Open University in 2014.
Personal life
Ini Edo married Philip Ehiagwina, an American-based company man, in 2008. After six years of marriage, the marriage came to an end in September 2014. Ini Edo had her first child, a girl by surrogacy in the year 2021.
Career
Her acting career began in 2003 with her debut in Thick Madam. Ini Edo was discovered by a filmmaker at the audition she attended. She made her breakthrough in 2004 when she was active in World Apart. She has appeared in over 100 films. At the 11th Africa Movie Academy Awards for her role in the film "While you slept," she received a "Best Lead Actress" award.
