Ellie Bentley, 22, crept under a car after hearing gunshots in St. Louis, Missouri's crime-ridden neighborhood of Grove. With the driver's belief that she was safe, she stood up and 'locked eyes.' However, the driver proceeded to mow her down with his vehicle. Bentley dragged Dionte Taylor, a 25-year-old teen, for three blocks, resulting in life-threatening injuries. Bentley's pelvic fracture was the worst they have ever seen, according to doctors at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

Ellie Bentley (right), 22, of Bingham, east of Nottingham, was left in hospital after suffering horrific injuries that resulted in five major reconstructive surgeries on February 25. In Missouri's city St. Louis, she was hiding under a car when a gunfight broke out. According to the Sun, Dionte Taylor (left), 25, was reportedly able to turn the car around and speed away, pulling Bentley under the car for two blocks. According to his arrest report, a man attempted to get into the wrong car, and Andre Wilson, 35, opened fire, striking the 25-year-old man in the chest five times. Bentley and her then-boyfriend and football player Indiana Vassilev (bottom inset), who played for Aston Villa, returned to the United States last year.
