Bukayo Saka Life

Bukayo Saka (born 5 September 2001) is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for Arsenal's Premier League team.

Early life

Saka was born in Ealing, Greater London, to Yoruba parents, and he attended Edward Betham Primary School before going to Greenford High School, where he earned high marks in his GCSEs, earning four A*s and three As. Saka played youth football for local club Greenford Celtic before joining Arsenal. As migrant immigrants, his parents immigrated to London from Nigeria. In an interview, Saka discussed the importance of his father's involvement in his football career: "He's a major inspiration to me." He kept me grounded and held me humble when I was young."

Bukayo's name comes from the Yoruba word used in southern Nigeria, which means "adds to joy."

Personal life

Saka said he would be a basketball player or an actor if not a footballer. Will Smith is his most popular actor growing up, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is his favorite show. Thierry Henry is his favorite footballer of all time, and he cites Alexis Sanchez as a source of authority, claiming he attempted to imitate Sanchez's boots when he was an academy player. David Luiz helped him the most in his career, according to Saka, "he went out of his way" to assist a number of Arsenal kids "on and off the field."

Saka is also a dedicated Christian.

Bukayo Saka Career

Club career

Saka had previously worked with Watford's youth team, and at seven years old, he joined Arsenal's Hale End academy. Saka was recruited by Arsenal and moved to the under-23 team when he hit the age of 17. Saka made his European League debut for Arsenal in their Europa League match against Vorskla Poltava on September 29, 2018. He was a 68th minute replacement for Aaron Ramsey. Saka made his first full home debut for Arsenal in their Europa League match against Qaraba on December 13, 2018. Saka beat Fulham 4–1 on January 1, 2019, after coming on for Alex Iwobi in the 83rd minute. He was the first player born in the 21st century to play in a Premier League match.

On September 19, Saka scored his first senior goal, curling a fine effort from long range into the corner against German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League. In a 3–0 victory, he ended the game with two assists to his name. Saka got off to a promising start in Germany by defeating Aston Villa 3–2 in a 3–2 home win. In a 1-1 draw against Manchester United, he later provided an assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who brought up Arsenal's equalizer.

Saka began to work as a regular in the Arsenal first team at left-back after suffering injuries from Sead Kolainac and Kieran Tierney. He scored the first goal in Arsenal's 2–1 FA Cup fourth round win over Bournemouth on Saturday after finishing a 22-pass move and assisting with the second goal, which was scored by Eddie Nketiah. The goal was later selected as the target of the round by the BBC. Saka made his return to action against Newcastle United with an assist for Nicolas Pépé's goal after a two-week break. In a 1–0 victory over Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League, he brought up Alexandre Lacazette for his ninth assist of the season. After crossing in for Nketiah in a dramatic 3–2 home win over Everton, he now has double figures for assists this season. In the first team, he continued his strong results against Portsmouth and West Ham United, assuaging his place.

Saka inks a new long-term agreement with Arsenal on July 1, 2020. Saka's head coach Mikel Arteta praised him and said, "I think he embodies every value that this football team stands for." He has come through the academy and gained his trust with hard work and accountability, and you can see the changes that he is experiencing as a player as well as a person. With a half volley defeating goalkeeper Rui Patroo in a 2–0 victory, he scored his first Premier League goal for the club against Wolverham Wanderers. Arsenal beat Chelsea 2–1 to win their 14th FA Cup, with a suspended substitute. In the 2019–20 season, he came third in the poll for the Arsenal Player of the Season award.

Saka was in the starting lineup on August 29th, 2020 FA Community Shield, in which Arsenal defeated Liverpool 5–4 after the game was 1–1 after 90 minutes. On his 40th appearance in a 3–1 victory over Chelsea on December 26, 2020, he scored his third Premier League goal on his 40th appearance in the Premier League. On the Arsenal official website, he was named Player of the Month following his outstanding show in December 2020. In January, he was named Player of the Month again, scoring three goals and one assist in six appearances in which his goal against West Brom was voted as the runner-up of Arsenal's Goal of the Month. For the third time in February, Saka was named Player of the Month for the third time, gaining 48 percent of the vote.

Saka made his 50th Premier League appearance against Burnley on March 6, 2021; he is the second youngest player in club history to reach that milestone. Saka scored a goal and helped Arsenal beat Slavia Prague 4–0 in the Europa League quarter final on Sunday, March 15th. He was named Week's Europa League Player of the Week for his fine show. He had seven goals and seven assists in 46 appearances across all leagues as he was named Arsenal Player of the Season for the third time in third year, despite being third in third in third. He was also shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Season.

Saka scored his first goal of the new season in a 6–0 EFL Cup second round victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns in late August. In September against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium, he scored his first Premier League goal of the season, while also contributing to the 3–1 victory. Saka made his 100th appearance for Arsenal against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on October 30th, marking the occasion with an assist in a 2–0 triumph. Arsenal defeated Norwich City 5–0 at Carrow Road on Boxing Day 2021, Saka's first senior brace. Saka became Arsenal's second youngest player, after Nicolas Anelka, to score 10 Premier League goals.

Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League, finishing short of Champions League qualification for the following season. Saka's father expressed his dissatisfaction with Arsenal's 20 away loss to Newcastle United, which nearly announced the club's Champions League withdrawal, saying, "we have had the opportunity to win and put ourselves in a good spot, but we couldn't do that." After finishing the season as the club's top scorer, he was nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Season, Premier League Young Player of the Year, and PFA Young Player of the Year. Saka was named Arsenal's Player of the Year for the second straight season, becoming the first person to hold the award since Thierry Henry in 2004.

International career

Saka was a representative of England under the age of 16, 17, under-17, under-18, and under the age of 21.

In May 2018, he was included in the England under-17 squad as they hosted the 2018 European Under-17 Championships. At the semi-final stage of a penalty shoot-out, the hosts were eliminated by the Netherlands, although Saka scored his spot kick.

In an away game against France in September 2018, Saka scored the winner for the England under-18 team. Saka got his first call-up to the England under-19 team in November 2018. In a qualifier against Moldova, he scored on his debut at this age.

Saka made his England U21s debut against Kosovo on September 4, 2020, defeating Kosovo 6–0. Saka was called up to the England senior squad for the first time on October 1st and made his international debut as one of the starters in a 3–0 victory over Wales on October 1st. Saka has been playing four times for England and can no longer represent Nigeria.

He was selected in the 26-man squad for UEFA Euro 2020 on June 2021. Saka scored his first senior international goal in a 1–0 victory on June 2nd in a friendly against Austria. He started England's third Euro 2020 group stage match against the Czech Republic on June 22nd and was named man of the match. Saka was brought on as a replacement for Kieran Trippier in the tournament final against Italy on July 11th. Saka was selected to make the team's fifth penalty after full time and extra time during the subsequent shootout, his first penalty kick at senior level. Saka's aspirations were saved by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, and as a result, Italy retained the shoot-out and the tournament. Since missing the penalty, Saka received racist abuse on the internet. Saka said in an Instagram post on Tuesday that he "knew instantly the kind of hate" he was going to get after his penalty was saved, adding, "And it's sad that your wealthy platforms aren't doing enough to discourage these messages."

Saka was named England Player of the Year for the 2021/22 season, ahead of Declan Rice and Harry Kane's debut in 2022, becoming the first Arsenal player to win the award.

Bayern Munich try to take Arsenal by surprise with a quick restart while NINE players take drinks as Bukayo Saka gets treatment before being called back by referee

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 18, 2024
Bayern Munich tried to catch Arsenal off guard with a quick restart from a throw-in whilst nine Gunners players were having a drinks break on the touchline. Play in Wednesday night's Champions League quarter-final had halted in the first-half due to a minor injury to Bukayo Saka, and many of Arsenal's outfield stars - and some Bayern players - were having a drink, while the Gunners received instructions from Mikel Arteta. A second-half header from Joshua Kimmich gave the German side a 1-0 win on the night, and 3-2 success on aggregate, to reach the semis against Real Madrid.

Bayern supporters aren't forgetting their UEFA fan ban in a hurry, Mikel Arteta's pre-match mind games continue - and Takehiro Tomiyasu's performance offers Arsenal a silver lining

ISAAN KHAN: Arsenal's Champions League dream came grinding to a disappointing halt on Wednesday night as Joshua Kimmich's header handed Bayern Munich a 3-2 win on aggregate in the quarter-finals. Mikel Arteta's side struggled to create any clear cut chance at the Allianz Arena, with Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz unable to replicate the stellar form they've shown in front of goal this campaign. Mail Sport's ISAAN KHAN takes note of the things you might have missed during the Champions League tie.

Bukayo Saka's injury-time mistake 'summed up' Arsenal's 'very disappointing' performance against Bayern Munich, says Gunners legend Martin Keown as he insists Mikel Arteta's side 'didn't lay a glove'

In the 95th minute, Saka passed a free kick quickly to Ben White instead of shooting or crossing into the box, before only hitting the first man from the subsequent corner. Arsenal lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena and failed to trouble the German champions as they crashed out of the quarter-finals 3-2 on aggregate.
