With the governing body befuddled by financial uncertainty, UK Athletics' annual loss of £3.7 million is the first year the organisation has been affected by the financial crisis; chief Ian Beattie admits that the situation is "not sustainable."

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 6, 2023
DAVID COVERDALE: The full extent of the financial crisis engulfing UK Athletics has been left bare after the company announced a record-breaking loss of £3.7 million per year. The governing body's staggering deficit for the year ending March 2023 is more than double the loss recorded in 2021-22. And it means they now have an alarming net loss of £3.2 million after having healthy reserves of £2.2 million just two years ago. Ian Beattie, the UKA Chair, forecasts that his company will lose another £1.6 million in 2023-24, and acknowledges that their current financial situation is 'not sustainable.'

As 2021-22 accounts are revealed, UK Athletics announces a £1.8 million loss as a result

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 12, 2022
RIATH AL-SAMARRAI: After accounts for the sport's British governing body revealed that it is running up huge losses and quickly burning through its reserves, serious questions regarding the wellbeing of athletes are spreading in this region. UK Athletics reported on Monday that during 2021-22, it suffered a huge £1.8 million deficit and savings have decreased from £2.2 million to just £430,000 in the space of a year. The accounts, which come only a decade after the London Olympics, give a grim reminder of how a golden opportunity was discarded.
