Hattie Mae Winston (born March 3, 1945) is an American television, film, and Broadway actress best known for her appearances as Margaret on Becker and as a leading cast member of PBS' children's series The Electric Company.
Early career
Winston was born in Lexington, Mississippi, and grew up in Greenville, Mississippi, where she attended local schools, which were segregated at the time. She began her career in New York City after leaving the South. Winston appeared in The Tap Dance Kid on Broadway; she also appeared in Two Gentlemen of Verona, I Love My Wife, and The Me Nobody Knows. She was a member of the Negro Ensemble Company.
Later career
In 1990, Winston portrayed Nurse Flowers in "Sesame Street Home Video Visits the Hospital." Lucy Carmichael appeared on Nickelodeon's hit cartoon Rugrats in 1993, as well as in the 1998 film version of The Rugrats Movie.
