Guy De Maupassant Life

[gi d(?) henri René Albert Guy de Maupassant (UK: tiger d(?) mopas? • 5 August 1850–6 July 1893) was a nineteenth-century French author, best known for his short story form and as a representative of the Naturalist school, who depicted human life and social forces in disillusioned and often dismissive terms. Maupassant was a protégé of Gustave Flaubert, and his tales were characterized by a mixture of style and quick, smooth denouements (outcomes). Many of these scenes were set during the Franco-Prussian War of the 1870s, emphasizing the futility of war and the innocent civilians who, caught up in incidents beyond their control, are permanently changed by their experiences. * He wrote 300 short stories, six novels, three travel books, and one volume of verse. "Boule de Suif" ("Ball of Suet"), his first published story, is often regarded as his masterpiece. He was known to drink hallucinogens and may have based his stories on his own experiences with the drug. * Neuroscientists have been studying his firsthand experiences with various types of hallucinatory phenomena.
