Early life
Witze was born in Frya, Trndelag, to businessman Gustav and caretaker Oddny Witze. SalMar, his father's business, is one of the world's largest farmed salmon producers. SalMar also has a majority interest in Scottish Sea Farms, the UK's second-largest salmon farmer. SalMar's majority shareholder, aged 18, was appointed by his father, mainly for inheritance tax purposes.
Since being jailed for driving 180 kph in a 60 kph zone, when he was 19 years old, Witze spent two weeks in prison. Witze is involved with the family business and worked as a milker at SalMar's fish farms in Frya. His net worth as of 2021 was $4.3 billion.
