Guilherme Arantes, a Brazilian singer-songwriter and pianist, is a member of the Brazilian Federation of Engineers and pianists. * He is a Steinway Artist. * He performed as a child in the band Os Polissonantes, which also featured Brazilian actor Kadu Moliterno on bass guitar. Arantes formed Moto Perpetuo with fellow students from the University of San Francisco's architecture program in 1969. Arantes got his first taste of touring and recording in a studio. * In 1974, the band split up as Arantes tried to pursue a more commercial, pop style. Arantes left university to dedicate himself to his solo career, and Rede Globo selected his song "Meu Mundo e Nada Mais" (My world and nothing more) in 1976 for the telenovela Anjo Mau. *The album was a hit, and Arantes toured the country for the first time. On Globo's Som Livre label, his first self-titled album was released the year before. * Globo selected "Cuide-se Bem" ("Take good care) from the same album for another telenovela, Duas Vidas. * Arantes went on to write another 23 songs for Globo's telenovelas, with the majority of them becoming radio hits. * He has written songs for musicians such as Gang 90 and Absurdettes, Elis Regina, Marina Lima, and Maria Bethânia, in addition to his solo projects. The Brazilian edition of Rolling Stone's Flores & Cores (Flowers & Colors) was named the 13th best Brazilian album of 2017 by his album Flores & Cores (Flowers & Colors).
