James Gregory Vaughan Jr. (born June 15, 1973) is an American actor and former fashion model best known for his appearances in the soap operas The Young and the Restless (2002–03), GM (2003–2009), and Days of Our Lives (2012–present).
On the second season of the supernatural drama Charmed (1999-2000), Vaughan also appeared as Dan Gordon.
Vaughan first appeared in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series Queen Sugar as Detective Calvin in 2016.
Personal life
Vaughan married Dutch model and actress Touriya Haoud on June 4, 2006. There are three sons in the family. They lived in Los Angeles, California, and Charlotte, North Carolina, during their marriage. Haoud and Vaughan announced their separation on April 14, 2014. Following their divorce, the children of Vaughan in the United States and Haoud returned to the Netherlands.
Career
In soap operas such as The Young and the Restless and General Hospital, the actor and former male fashion model has appeared in soap operas. Lucky Spencer in the latter, which he played from 2003 to 2009, is his best-known role to date.
He heard of a "Back to School" modeling competition while getting a haircut and sent in some snapshots. He was chosen as a finalist, but did not win. However, the winner persuaded Vaughan to study modeling, and Vaughan joined a modeling company.
He was invited to Milan, Italy, where he modeled for designer Giorgio Armani for two and a half months after graduating from Meso High School. More campaigns have been launched, with designers such as Gianni Versace, Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic, and Ralph Lauren.
Vaughan became dissatisfied with modeling and decided to move to Los Angeles to fulfill his childhood aspirations to become an actor. His first appearance on Baywatch and as a pilot for a 1996 Aaron Spelling film Malibu Shores led to his appearances on Beverly Hills, 90210, as a cast member.
Diego Guittierez, who appeared in the daytime drama The Young and the Restless, was his next big role from 2002 to 2003. Vaughan received a call from GEH's designers, who were looking for a new actor for the character of Lucky Spencer, son of the famous soap opera couple Luke and Laura, when the character was written off the show. With the part being played by Jonathan Jackson and Jacob Young, Vaughan was the first actor to play Lucky as a full adult.
In a ceremony in New York on June 7, 2006, Vaughan assumed the role of the new spokesperson for I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. Fabio's replacement was supposed to be the contestant.
In 2007, Vaughan appeared on The Tyra Bank Show to assist Tyra Banks in "soap opera school."
